City players praising or seen to be socialising with Rag players? I know most of them are friends especially the England players or players from the same country enjoy going to restaurants etc with each other. But it makes me fucking sick to hear that Micah Richards praising that chavvy prick Phil Jones. when does one of their players ever praise us?I despise every single united player so to see that our lot are mates with a few of their players is really annoying. Seeing Joe hart went on holiday with Shrek just makes me mad for some reason. In an ideal world city's players would despise uniteds players like we as fans despise them. Am I spraffing shit or does anyone else agree? Would be nice to see a hatred between the players. I'm not quite with it today so I apologise if that makes no sense, I am just in the mood for a rant

The Richards article
Micah Richards believes Manchester United defender Phil Jones has the attributes to captain England in future.

Jones was snapped up by The Red Devils from Blackburn Rovers over the summer and the talented teenager has already made a huge impression during his short time at Old Trafford.

The duo are in contention to fill the right-back role in Montenegro with John Terry and Gary Cahill expected to retain their partnership at the back, when England only require a point to seal their place at Euro 2012.

Although Manchester City defender Richards knows the pair are enemies on club duty, but he cannot help but admire him while at England's training camp.

Captain

"Phil Jones is going to be England captain one day," Richards told The Guardian.

"He's got everything: pace, reads the game well, is good on the ball.

"He's at the right club as well because Sir Alex Ferguson promotes young players."

Patience

Richards has been in superb form for City this season and he is hoping to get the nod against Montenegro with Chris Smalling (groin) unavailable.

The 23-year-old has won 12 caps for his country but only one since Fabio Capello's appointment and he is keen to show the Italian has he has developed and matured of late.

"People always say there aren't many right-backs," he continued.

"But Chris Smalling is doing a good job for Manchester United. I rate Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker's been doing very well.

Do you not have any relatives, friends or associates, who are Rags ??

To these lads it's a job, they are paid to play, the whole deep routed rivalry between clubs is lost once it becomes a career for them.

Sure many players have sang the same songs on the terraces growing up but these days they wouldn't be seen dead singing anything.

So no it doesn't annoy me that maybe Micah is best buddys with Danny Wellbeck or Joe Hart went on holiday with Rooney.

it would probably annoy me more if players pretended to care about a local rivalry actually.... Let them do their talking on the pitch.

Exactly... its a fact of life. All rags are bastards and I hate them all.. except for the ones who are my mates.

any friendliness will go out of the window for 90mins on derby day. thats all that matters.
Absolutely - completely agree - most of the wars going on at the moment won't end while that kind of attitude exists - unhealthy !

Not at all. There may be many things wrong with modern football, but respect for your opponent shouldn't be one of them.

Give me the Summerbee/Best relationship over the Mike Doyle (RIP) stuff anyday. If Joe Hart did go on holiday with Rooney, that has to be better than the dark, sinister and repulsive grudge that Keane carried round with him for Alfie.

It is a game for God's sake. The very best game by a mile. but it is not a war. It is there to provide us with the ultimate entertainment after a hard few days' work (if we are lucky) and to take us away from the stresses of keeping our families fed and clothed (if we are lucky).

I noticed that Liverpool are running a countdown show on their t.v. show called ' The 10 Teams We Love to Hate' . When you think of the true injustices in the world, why would you divert energies like this into officially (in effect) hating another football team.

The game is there to be loved. It doesn't happen if you don't have opponents.

Yours sanctimoniously

I have a few friends who are rags, but that's as far as it goes. If I see a guy in the street with a rag shirt on I will just glare and shake my head. Unless he's a nice guy and pipes up conversation

I'm just thinking the OP is stating that we as fans should have a hatred for all things utd to which i agree, and if our players were passionate for City (as we are) they shouldn't be friendly with the enemy. However this is modern day footballers we are talking about and it's like a big boys club where they're all in it together and sometimes it looks to the fans as if they don't care as much as we do about the rivalry or hatred that we have against our closest neighbours. A player has recently said that the England camp was often devided on international duty with utd, liverpool, and london players all sitting apart and having their own little cliques, I think this was more of a conversational interactive thing than having a dislike for anyone from another rival club. I prefer the Mike Doyle way, he hated them and bled Blue blood.
