What more is there to say, really? Are ALL of the sources lying? Did they ALL misinterpret the President's words and/or quid pro quo as merely normal diplomacy? Were they ALL loyalists who have turned sinister Never-Trumpers and are now coordinating to bring him down by whatever means necessary and should be discredited as such?

Unlike some of those who abandoned this thread like . . . well, like bandwagoning football fans realizing their team was headed for a plunge down the table . . . I think I'm done because there's really nothing left to say. The evidence is clear and overwhelming and whether he is or isn't impeached comes down to the percentage of those in the Senate who either find moral courage or don't and choose to vote lockstep with the cold political reality of the moment. That might be to support him, or it might be to jump off the sinking ship. That could change, and very fast. We'll see.

As with Watergate, once the hearings were conducted in a public setting, the entire story becomes a matter of record, and there's no longer new shit to uncover because it uncovers itself in chambers on TV. Whatever new shit is uncovered is already piled on top of the old shit, which is already enough shit to impeach and remove in five seconds flat were the vote a secret one IMO.

This thread really has become totally one-sided because the evidence is. As such, there's not a lot of nuance to add. I hope our elected representatives do the right thing, and I'm not sure how much confidence to have in them that they will. In the meantime, if they don't, you can bet your ass I will next November.

He has issued an order to his staffers not to co-operate or comply with subpoenas. That is obstruction of justice for starters.

The tactic of Reps during the investigation and trial is to go all out on what-aboutism and false equivalence. They plan to dredge up a range of conspiracy theories that are connected to the Bidens / the whistleblower / Ukraine / whatever. The strategy can be summed up as 2 wrongs make a right (and there wrongs are not even genuine wrongs just lose insinuation of other sinister events none of which will have any evidence supporting them).

If this was a real court they would not be allowed to call Hunter Biden as a witness - as he has no bearing on what Trump did or did not do with regard to soliciting favors from the Ukraine. Yet that will be the big play of the defense case. They will want the Bidens on the stand to throw accusations at them even though they are not on trial - there is zero evidence to suggest they did anything wrong. And even though they want the Bidens to appear they will defend Trump not appearing and ordering his staff not to co-operate or appear.

A total farce is what the Reps are offering up - and it could work quite well for them. A handful of staffers will appear and will testify that trump acted unlawfully and that accusation will be backed up by plenty of factual evidence. The prosecution case will be proven conclusively although the Reps will do there best to mask it under a lot of 'noise'.

Rick Perry, Trump's Energy Secretary went to the President of Ukraine's inauguration in place of Pence. Whilst he was there the subject of corruption came up. About how Ukraine should clear up their act by investigating the Biden's.

Funny that just a few days later, a business associate and campaign doner of Perry was awarded a lucrative energy contract (50 year lease on land over huge natural gas reserves) in Ukraine at way less than market value.
