Donald Trump

Trump has been impeached. The Senate can refuse to remove him from office but Trump remains impeached. Trump was impeached under the provisions set out under the constitution not a court of law, just as Trump was elected under the rules of the electoral college despite receiving fewer votes than his opponent. Democrats were able to successfully impeach because they won the house in an election. I mention this last point because you seem fond of mentioning things should be done via elections and voting.

Yet nothing will happen which is my point.

Exactly right though re elections and voting.

America and will choose if he gets another term, not his political opponents or social media.

I would like to think that they would carry out their Constitutional duty and take the evidence at face value. In the impeachment of Clinton, some Dem's voted to remove him. Dem's also released all evidence requested by Republicans as the law requires. There were certainly not the levels of obfuscation participated in by Republicans in Trump's impeachment.

Imagine here that all the evidence was available (transcripts, documents, witness testimony). Given the tables turned and all the evidence available I don't think many Dems would be able to vote against impeachment as it is pretty blatant as to what Trump did and who knew about it.

I think the political world has moved on from the days of Clinton and it is now very much trench warfare.

Nothing to be gained from going against your own party and everything to lose.

Impeachment is ‘something’ happening. No President has ever been removed from office via impeachment. You can accept that the President did something wrong (70% of Americans think this) but only around 50% think he should be removed from office, which is still an astonishingly high figure. What may save Trump is that most of these Americans live in about three states, because that’s were a majority of Americans live, and the constitution is weighted against the majority in order to give the minority a voice (which in many ways is commendable).

The reason why Trump should be removed from office is that his brain is largely mush and has a fixation on toilets.

Well, let’s see if the voters agree, they didn’t last time, I’m simply saying what I think will happen, if you’re right, I’ll lose no sleep either way.

Your weekly reminder that the majority of voters didn’t vote for Trump. I know you guys are keen on the ‘will of the people’ and all that :)

What won’t work is a belief in social media, swinging it, the Twitterati have just found that out.

No, nothing wrong with me, I know it hurts that not everyone follows your beliefs avidly, but I suggest you get
used to it. You're implying that I support Trump, to me he comes across as a blustering loudmouth, yet I have also seen him
produce a strong economy, and the ethnic minorities enjoying more employment than ever, people may argue this, fine,
I am merely saying, at present I'm ambivalent.

The ends justify the means.

Unfortunately if you turn this 180 my guess is democrats would rally behind their POTUS and you would hear the exact same arguments, see the exact same obstruction and we would see the exact same outcome.

The electorate will decide who is the POTUS next year and if he wins again, the one guarantee that their system has is he wont get another go there after.

Processes like this whilst sounding damning and the end of the road are seemingly anything but.
Blueinsa, I get your argument, your basically saying one shower is as bad as the other and let the people decide.
Basically that leaves whoever is in to override the rule of law. In my book that is not democracy and it is what is becoming the norm particularly in this form of western binary choice party systems.
When the electorate are left with a choice of "fuck it, they're all bent and up to their eyes in it", then the system needs changing or the rule of law needs to be kept.

Edit: Neither of which is happening and more fool the electorate.

Trump is a ****, unfit for high office but..............

It all feels post EU ref with the losing side unable to comprehend the choice of the electorate and any means will do to overturn the decision.

What happened to policies and beating the other side at the ballot box?

Its an election next year and it smacks of a democratic party knowing they have no chance of winning so this is the only way of getting rid and the worst of ti is they know it wont work.

Its all a bit pointless and bonkers if you ask me, much like the campaign to remain was here.

These posts puzzle me. Do you not understand that if you don’t try to impeach a President for what he did you give free license for other Presidents to do the same, or worse?
