Its a very successful targeted attack on someone the United States felt was planning attacks and responsible for the deaths of US citizens.

I doubt they care if its viewed as an escalation or not but attacking US soil which their Embassy is and killing a US citizen was never going to go unanswered.

It is escalation, but I don't think the motives are founded around the Middle East.

The timing of the strike 'conveniently' hijacks the news cycle just as the unredacted email's surface and the Muller files FOI request drops.

You have to look at who is potentially in the frame from any fallout from these documents, and who would have been in the Chain of Command in any decision to carry out this strike. Then ask yourself just how convenient the timing of this strike actually was for Trump. And if this does escalate, Trump will be a war time president in the middle of an election year.

Maybe I'm wrong, and this is all just a total coincidence, but this is Trump and coincidence does have a habit of following him around.

Oh they care but it wasn’t a “they” decision was it. Nothing is a joint decision or cogent strategy with Trump.

An air strike to assassinate the second most important Iranian in a foreign sovereign country. So yeah, Congressional approval may be an idea. But what would the former DoD Head Council know about things when we have the genius that is you?

Debating anything on capital punishment or war with you is completely pointless as it seems you never made it out of puberty on the issues and have no fucking clue about real world consequences. And it’s not just that you’ve no clue about them, you don’t care either, so long as you can wave your flag and say “yeah the bad guy’s dead, woop woop”.

A completely foreseeable series of events has transpired following Trump's unilateral rejection of the Iran nuclear deal. What's unforeseeable is how on earth we - Europe, America, the Middle East, etc., - get out of this mess. Likely Iran will become even more aggressive and for sure they'll develop nuclear capability. No reason at all why they shouldn't now.
