Donald Trump

I've seen it suggested that he was so annoyed that he wasn't told about interview requests for the previous Woodward book about him, he all but insisted on this one. So hubris mostly, the belief that he could control what would happen.

Eighteen taped interviews seems astonishingly thick.
Woodward must have been licking his lips at Trump's naive stupidity.

Trump has consistently been indiscreet about "secrets" throughout his time in office. He seems so desperate to brag that he knows things "normal people" supposedly don't that he regularly drops himself in the shit.

"Hey Bob, you won't know this since you're not President, but COVID-19 is way worse than I've been letting on." No shit, Donald, you think ****.

Why was Trump talking so indiscreetly to Bob Woodward, of all the people, in the first place? Does he not know who he is?

Surely, his previous book on Trump would have given him a clue as to how this would go! Massively calls his judgement into question (as if we needed another example).
Trump decided on his head that maybe sweet talking Bob would change the message in any future publication to his benefit. He tried the charm offensive by throwing a couple of 'secrets' at him. (Knowing Covid is deadly and a new nuclear weapons systems the pentagon are seething he's revealed.)

All he knew about Woodward was 'He's that Nixon guy...' Not thinking that as a proper journalist it would be used to flog his book.

Once again proving the theory the current leader of the free world is thick as shit.

In an interview, award-winning journalist Bob Woodward suggested to President Trump that they have a duty to try to have a better understanding of the “the anger and pain” Black Americans feel.

In response, Trump reportedly said, “No … You really drank the Kool-Aid, didn’t you? Just listen to you. Wow. No, I don’t feel that at all.”

Outstanding, I can imagine Woodward raising an eyebrow at that, and revising his opinion of Trump downwards.
