Donald Trump

A few apparently reasonable nominations (okay, there's a billionaire pro-tariff guy to run the Treasury, and a Heritage wonk for another job, and a motivational speaker/ex-footballer to run Housing, but they're not actually corrupt as far as I can tell).

Then you hit the return of the odious Gorka - I'm sure he knows lots about counterterrorism; presumably 'deputy assistant to POTUS' means saying 'yes sir' to Agent Orange and going out to harangue people in the media.
He is way more experienced and prepared for Washington than he was the last time.

He is going to have his admin up and ready to go by January. Appointments are coming fast and furious.

That’s a BAD thing. What he learned is don’t appoint people who will challenge or contradict you. Appoint those who owe you and will be loyal. That’s not good under any circumstances at any organization no matter who’s running it. Not particular to Trump, and others have been guilty of it too. That said, there simply aren’t enough terrible people to fill out an entire cabinet/key role set so he’s had to choose some that have at least basic competence. The most important roles to me are Treasury and AG, and while AG was always going to be a hardened loyalist who’d protect him, it’s not Gaetz thankfully, and Bessent is at least reasonable (though he might not last long given his views on the deficit). If Trump would get off this stupid social agenda and focus on steering the economy thoughtfully, we might escape the next four years with limited damage or even some positives. Alas that’s unlikely.
