Donald Trump

Hard to tell the difference.

It’s Trump, of course they’ll have horse de-wormer adverts. Wasn’t it him or one of his anti-vax followers (Joe Rogan?) who said it was best used for COVID?
That was ivermectin (and Hydroxychloroquine).

Advocates still claim evidence that they reduced effects (or speeded up recovery).

It was usually anti-vax conspiracists that reckon it was better to take untested horse medicine.

Any likelihood of general public acceptance was probably killed off by Trump's suggesting it, along with injecting bleach or shining a light up your arse.

Well, Trump did have a point. Anyone drinking bleach, injecting hydroxychloroquine, and swallowing copious amounts of ivermectin, all while shining an industrial grade welding laser up their ass, is unlikely to die of COVID.

It's a pantomime campaign in a lot of ways -- he has no platform, no new ideas, or at least no practical solutions to problems. It's the same tired greatest hits. He doesn't prepare, and he doesn't care. He's relying on the cult of personality and the fact that plenty of his constituents won't leave him because he's a Republican and Harris isn't. As with so many of his failed ventures, he loses interest and leans on blame, excuses and lawyers to rationaliz(s)e his failures, and will do again if he doesn't win, as we know.

Deserves repeating.

There is no “there” there!

He thinks that his PERSONALITY is the draw, and in many ways, for most of the cult, it is! So, why bother with any actual serious policies? Talk in generalities and let others fill in the blanks!

“Strong on the border”
What does this even mean? Another 52 miles of rusty steel wall on a 1,951 mile border over the next 4 yrs???

“Tariffs! I’m going to make ‘Jina’ pay us billions of dollars!”
What??? That’s not how the tariffs work! They’re inflationary at a time when we are trying to reduce inflation.

“Everybody wanted abortion sent back to the States. Everybody!”
Do you mean “every body except those of women?” Do you mean the septuagenarian and octogenarian white males who punch Bibles in public and frequent men’s rooms and private bunga bunga parties in their spare time? Like you & Epstein? Oh wait, abortion for those with money will ALWAYS be available! It’s just the poor, mostly white, trash (most of whom are you deaf, dumb and blind supporters!) who will suffer and then you and your cronies will tell them they should just keep their knees together (because we all know that’s solid birth control and rear entry is only a thing for them and their butt buddies!).

And on and on and on…

And, sadly, this is before we even get to his Festivus List of Grievances!! ;-)

The man should be in a criminal hospital. He is not only a convicted felon, but sick in the head with delusions of grandeur and the brand of malignant narcissism that will get people killed!

Evidence or anecdotes?

I only ask because if there is actual, verifiable, peer-reviewed and approved “evidence,” then they should be used to help people.

If not, then we should stop the charade and take real fucking medicine, because death by COVID SUCKS!!

I wonder if this is a function of him falling behind in the polls, by it creating some sort of viscous (arguably virtuous!) circle with his already dysfunctional brain. Whether the desperation he must be feeling is causing his mind to further degenerate.

I did feel that he would become increasingly incoherent as the election loomed and his latest output would certainly support that view.

Viscous circle. That's pretty good. Especially when talking about Trump's brain.

Evidence of some benefit from some trials, but not from other trials, so essentially no certain evidence to justify taking a medicine with possible side-effects like

Abdominal pain; abnormal sensation in eye; anaemia; appetite decreased; arthralgia; asthenia; asthma exacerbated; coma; confusion; constipation; diarrhoea; difficulty standing; difficulty walking; dizziness; drowsiness; dyspnoea; encephalopathy; eye erythema; eye inflammation; fever; gastrointestinal disorders; haemorrhage; headache; hepatic disorders; hyperbilirubinaemia; hypereosinophilia; leucopenia; lymphatic abnormalities; Mazzotti reaction; myalgia; nausea; oedema; pain; postural hypotension; psychiatric disorder; severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs); stupor; tachycardia; tremor; urinary incontinence; vertigo; vomiting

(But most medicines have a long list of possible side-effects.)

I took hydroxychoroquine for a few years. It is a dangerous drug. It is a disease modifier ie chemotherapy. It can affect muscles very badly including the heart. I finished up unable to walk more than a few yards.
Trump claimed to be taking it daily, probably a lie.

Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquin were considered (amongst many drugs) as having potential for COVID treatment. Both were evaluated in a range of clinical trials.

Ivermectin recent research

ineffective in altering the outcomes of COVID-19 infection in a largely vaccinated population. The researchers conclude that ivermectin should not be prescribed as a treatment for COVID-19 in such populations and recommend against conducting further trials on ivermectin for this purpose

WHO on Ivermectin

The current evidence on the use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19 patients is inconclusive. Until more data is available, WHO recommends that the drug only be used within clinical trials.

WHO on hydroxychloroquin:

WHO does not recommend hydroxychloroquine to prevent COVID-19. This recommendation is based on findings from 6 trials, with more than 6000 participants
