Donald Trump

Look at this one . . .

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, told Punchbowl News she was “shocked” by Gaetz’s selection.

“This is why the Senate’s advise and consent process is so important,” Collinstold the news outlet. “I’m sure that there will be many, many questions raised at Mr. Gaetz’s hearing.”

And then, since she might be the biggest coward in the universe, she’ll vote to confirm.
Just seen a quote from McCarty saying:-

Gaetz won't get confirmed, everybody knows that

This could be the first test for Trump's authority.

I can not tell you how much it gladdens me to see

RFK
Tulsi Gabbard
Vivek Ramaswamy
Elize Stefanik
Elon Musk
Tom Homan and the like

All taking up great roles in the Trump administration. Are there going to be some duds? Sure! But the bangers are a treat.
Sounds great.
Cmon name the duds.

I have only one prediction and it won’t take 4 years.
The initial cordiality between opposing sides in here will be very short lived.
Probably best if I ( with no skin in the game, per se) stay out for my own sanity if nothing else.

I find the direction America is taking very disturbing on one hand, mainly because of your global influence, while on the other, as you probably gathered from my contributions, it’s not totally unexpected. I see so many paradoxes in the United part of the States of America.

Regular US contributors in here vary, some hoping for a survival over the next 4 years while others perhaps are letting what’s left of their cordial masks slip already and showing what I consider a very real understanding of what their vote meant.
By that I mean, I perhaps am reading between the lines in some contributions, which is always at risk of being a misinterpretation I know.
But I see no naivety in what they hoped for in voting Trump in. This is exactly what was endorsed and this is what they both hoped for and expected.

That’s the way I see it.

Those of us on this side of the Atlantic looking on, can only look on with interest and hope for the best for you all, but I personally have no great hopeful prognosis for what is about to unfold.

Anyway, I’ve an Irish election to think about in two weeks.
Scratching my head with that one. It’s enough for me. I’ll sign out and leave you to it.

Im not a fan of Matt Gaetz or Kristin Noem. Nowm will absolutely get confirmed by the way. But Gaetz is a gonna be a struggle.

But the guy I'd have picked would have been just as hated by the same folks here.

Btw, had Biden picked everyone on my list of likes there would not have been a word of disagreement anywhere in sight.

Someone called Elon, Tulsi, Vivek, Homan and RFK psychopaths. The delusion.

Anyway, I'd have preferred Ken Paxton for AG. But the Country voted for Trump and not my dumb ass (I know the gallery would love that self flagellation). I don't get to substitute my judgement for that of his team.

Anyway, there you have it

I'll be going over each and every pick and analyzing what I like and dislike about them. Obviously, mostly what I like. :)

I think the notion that people who voted Trump are stupid was always silly.

They voted Trump because they disliked him less than they did the other side. And there's plenty enough reason to dislike the other side.

I always want the American President or Government to succeed. What I am mostly reading here are people who are hoping and praying it fails.

As always they are all full of predictions. I am hopeful and so far can't say I'm disappointed in anything.

The President has made some picks. Most of them are great and will get confirmed. A significant minority of them are shaky.

But the woe is me crowd can't even wait for his first day in office to have a complaint. They apparently know the future.

So a recess appointment then perhaps. Then no one has to go on record.

It's such an inflammatory choice you have to wonder whether he's looking to test whether he can literally get anything through a subservient Senate, with the backup of the recess appointment if there is pushback.

What is this cordiality of which you speak? :)
