Donald Trump

It’s too bad we don’t have a king. :)

No system is perfect. We for example can’t understand votes of no confidence or random calls for elections at irregular intervals.

I have always liked the six year idea for the Presidency and House terms of four instead of two, for the record. In fact the two year terms for the House have enormous incumbency advantages given brand recognition and fund-raising head starts.
King for a day?

Here we go…

Term limits: EVERYONE!
President: One 6 year term.
Senate: Two 6 year terms.
House: Three 3 year terms.

2024: President and 1/2 the Senate (1 from each state), plus the House
2027: 1/2 the Senate (1 from each state) and the House
2030: NEW President, 1/2 the Senate (1 from each State, same one as in 2024), the House.

Legislation comes from the House, so the genesis of legislation can change every 3 years, if the People feel like nothing is getting done.

Half of the Senate, which is enough to create strong majorities for either party, changes every 3 years, in concert with all of the House.

The President has 3 years to get his policies through and get his party’s House and Senate members elected OR he becomes more of a chastened, MIDDLE OF THE ROAD President who needs to work with the opposition for the next 3 years to help his Party get re-elected at the end of his term.

Term limits are needed and funding, mainly PACs & Dark Money are the root of all evil in the American system and need to be abolished.

Every election should last no longer than 90 days, with a spending cap and a low donation limit that is available online in real time. Spending cap hit, no more allowed.

There should be 12 SCOTUS judges (just like a jury), who are each eligible for one 12 year term. 4 judges chosen every 3 year cycle. Justices are presented to Senate for a straight up or down vote after a 1 day hearing on their record as a Judge. Only Judges with a 10 year record on the bench are allowed. Any 6-6 tie means status quo of Appeals Court decision, or no change to the law if it was brought directly to the SCOTUS. No Chief Justice. One consenting and one dissenting opinion on every decision that is not unanimous.

That’s a start…

Add in a complete overhaul of the Constitution and you're on to a winner with that.

I suspect the domestic villain this time around will be Jerome Powell, chair of the Fed. I foresee “lock him up” rallies as he attempts to control monetary policy in the face of an unfettered President whose popular planks are almost entirely inflationary. Powell will become the new Fauci.
Has not the Trump a camp said Powell will be fired? Can they do that?

I wonder what might have happened had the Irish Army launched into Derry to protect the civil rights protesters in the Bogside.
Where would America have stood on that one.

And before anyone accuses me of being a fantasist. After the Bloody Sunday killings, Jack Lynch did come under pressure in The Dail (Irish Parliament). The logic was that, no, Ireland would not have the capability to beat the British army, but what such an advance would have done is possibly have a UN peace keeping force installed in the North rather than the British forces.

Like I said, that was the pressure put on Jack Lynch. Who knows? Where would America have stood?
Yes, they came very close to ‘invading’.
