Bring back the 80's I say. Fuck all the kids and women off and get back to the days when all the singers would push past each other and get to the top of the kippax, near the away fence, loaded with sharpened coins and the odd dart.

The days when you could decide to go the game on the day, pay on the door, get pissed up for a fiver, sing whatever the fuck you wanted about any subject and wonder whether you would get home alive.

The good old days....What you reckon Dave?
hahahahaha. Quality.

A bunch of 16 year old nerds dressed up like billy smart's circus, shouting through megaphones and doing choreographed dance moves represents the inevitable march of progress does it? Anyone who doesn't go along with the charade is an 80s hooligan, a killjoy, a Luddite, an old man?

Hilarious. Luckily the majority of blues have a bit more sense and if some div stands up on a soapbox at the front of the south stand with his megaphone I expect them to be laughed at and ignored.

The reason the Dortmund fans outsung city's fans last week was because 3000 of them made a bloody racket for 90 minutes, just like city do at many away grounds. Atmosphere is noise, not fucking twee 'choreography'.

Let it go. Your 'citizens movement' is just a silly thread on the Internet.

The all knowing pompous one posts again. Arrogance is just a word to you, isn't it? All this disdain towards younger fans, who are ultimately the future of this club by the way, reeks of hate. Do you miss your youth or did your misses run off with a teenage physics prodigy?

It's ok lads, don't bother going to support the eds games or try to improve the atmosphere at home games because some arse hat called Dave in Didsbury is upset about it.

I was being serious!

Football died in the UK as a place to have a decent atmosphere the day the Taylor Report was published and the day the Premier league and all its glitz and glamour promoted the family game! It will never be the same whatever people try and do.

spot on that.

I'd like to see an improvement in the atmosphere but there are so many factors involved from opposition, k.o. Time, mid week, our performance, league or cup, weather, attendance, etc etc.
However the biggest obstacle is getting enough of the like minded fans all together in a hot spot so to speak, I'm in the singing section and there's plenty who don't sing very much, me included if I'm not in the mood.

Going to take a lot of fan movement before an ultra section or whatever we're calling it could get a foothold, the answer is getting the fans as they are presently distributed to sing louder for longer to encourage other parts of the ground to bloody join in every now and again.

Let me just make things clear, gazC. I welcome younger fans to city. More than that, I think the club should do everything in their power to actively encourage young fans to the stadium. We have lost a generation to man utd and the future of the club depends on winning these kids back.

My problem is not young fans at all. My problem is with half a dozen geeks who think that dressing up like a sky blue Noddy, dancing around like a Morris dancer on ecstasy and harmonising in E minor with the rest of the block represents appropriate 'support'.

Options on this 'movement' (PMSL) were canvassed on here and I'm giving mine.

That's fair enough Dave, but you're going about in totally the wrong way. If they take a drum to an eds game and it's shit, fair enough, mock them. But to mock them for making an effort? It just seems a bit callous and all knowing on your part. FWIW I think you'll be proven wrong. I lived in Frankfurt 15 years ago when similar changes happened in German support - those that drove the change, not just in the way their teams were supported, but the mentality of the match going fan were laughed at, were told this won't work this isn't Turkey and called kids then.

Totally incorrect, you are doing the opposite, your opinion should be like others on here, good luck lads or not for me, you on the other hand quote the rag shite in every post, take the piss out of the young uns by trying to belittle them by calling them dweebs or similar shite, and tell them flatly they should forget the idea as it's embarrassing and they should not be supporting city if they don't agree with you. So that crock of shite you just posted doesn't wash with me, go bully some rag shite and leave blues alone who only have the best intentions wether you agree with them or not.
I personally find it more embarrassing when idiots try and belittle others, so I kindly request you leave them to it and when they do their thing you can either chuckle to yourself or more improbably join in.

Is there really a need to type stuff like that about young City fans? Abuse like that isn't necessary to get your point across surely?

TBF this is the same Didsbury Dave who told me last season I might aswell face it Mancini was on his way out and he would love Mourinho.

Ah, that's the kind of "support" he meant then.

well if they want to be told what a great idea this is, they should go and ask Hugh Ferris or Garry Cook.

This is a forum and some things can only be said in one way.

I look forward to the new era this represents the dawning of. The spirit of the Maine road family stand is alive and well and taking over the Etihad this winter. The Citizens Movement is here. The future has arrived.

The revolution will not be televised, but it will have a tuba accompaniment and wear a pair of clown shoes and a half and half scarf.

Instead of constant criticism why don't you come up with some ideas of your own then?

The atmosphere at home is appalling and has been for years apart from odd high profile games..

better than an old guy in a cheap plastic jacket and no colours though

This portrayal of those who want to create abetter atmosphere as trying to create some kind of pantomime show just really dont get it.

Nothing i saw from the dortmund fans was cabaret all i saw was a set of fervent fans determined to get behind and support their team.

So we should hold up the likes of Villa, the rags and Chelsea as a beacon of football support!? Ha thats a joke if ever ive heard one. The swamp is the most sterile, soulless ground ive ever had the misfortune to attend, and stamford bridge, well, they wouldnt know an atmosphere if it hit them.

This is a great initiative but their are many hurdles to overcome, not least the narrow mindedness of a portion of our support. That said i doubt anyone would moan if we could generate an atmosphere on the lines ofdortmund, posnan and aris.

This cultural thing is a misnomer, we can generate the same level of passion and support it just needs the will and like minded fans to get together.

Its not for everyone, fine, we are an inclusive club but dont knock fellow blues for simply wanting to create more atmosphere.

Given the Fact we are in our best ever home run, is the atmosphere that important?

To me? yes. (clearly for some others too)

I do recall the players lamenting the death of the Poznan.

Or was that just my imagination?

I have actually. I've emailed the
Club and talked personally to one of our directors about it.

There's only one answer. Move the away fans to the other side of the south stand. That's the only thing that will help. Until that's done nothing will change no matter how many trumpets are parping 'we're not really here' at the front of the stand.
