Can anyone advise me?

Ive just got my first ever ipod, I love my music but itunes seems a tadge pricy, also i want to get into Audio books i struggle reading very well and they will be great for me, the trouble is the harry potter book for instance costs 50 quid on i tunes, that's more expensive than the book and the cost of a night watching it at the flicks with the mrs combined WHAT A RIP OFF (good idea for a thread that!!!) !!!

Are there any cheaper alternatives to Itunes, is there a dedicated Audio book site? is it less of a rip off than i tunes?

ALSO

I haven't read for the best part of 20 years, its a struggle for me and I feel I have missed out on lots and lots of great storys/education (certainly my spelling has suffered, first to admit it!!) , is there any audio books anyone could recommend?

I like action, historical, mythical, thriller, magical, sort of stuff. not into sci fi but would be persuaded to try if if there was a book/author anyone was passionate about.

What classics would people recommend? Don't think i could cope with the russian doods but the Brits, Americans, F scott Fitz etc etc what are they like for instance? Whats the likes of Joh Grisham like?

Just interested in any advise really.

don't buy from the iTunes store everything is too expensive.

It might be a daft question these days, but I do know someone who didn't realise you could put your own cds in and copy them.

I have copied all my cds, but it takes for ever to copy my vinyl records so I use peer to peer sites, ie limewire etc. You can also get some audio books there too.

There was a thread yesterday about the download sites people use.

http://www.audible.co.uk is the best site for audio books. If you join and pay £7.99 a month, you get a book a month free.

Also there are quite a few free books on iTunes if you know where to look. They come from this site http://librivox.org/. The only problem is that they only record books that are out of copyright (>50 years old) so nothing too modern on there. And because it's done by volunteers the readings can be a bit hit-and-miss. Most are Americans so have no clue about English place names mostly.

Download Vuze (Azeurus).... its free, install the software. Go to Mininova or other torrent search engines, type in what it is you want and you'll get a list of potential matches, look for the highest seeds then download. Drag the download into your Vuze database while it is downloading, then when finished you copy into itunes..... its very fast and very very very cheap..... FREE

anybody have any good free album artwork sights?
Amazon. Just right-click on the album cover you want and "Save as picture..." Make sure you save it with the required name and in the right format for whatever you're using. Usually if you save it a cover.jpg in the music folder it will update your ipod when you synch.
