We stayed in Pefkos. Nice pub there with a swimming pool. As for Lindos I imagine those tiny streets are oven like. Feel sorry for those poor donkeys with fat tourists climbing to the acropolis.

Symi harbour and little town is very picturesque. We had lunch in a little place on the harbour.

We were holidaying in Rhodes and went there when my yougest daughter was about 3, she is fair skinned and as soon as we got off the boat we headed straight for one of the cafes just to get her out of the sun.
The monastry you mention....not sure if it's the same one but there was a large Greek ' lady ' dressed in black robes walking up the steps right in front of me. She let off the biggest wet fart I've ever had the displeasure of being near, right at face level. My good lady wife could hardly contain herself.....
 
We was in Heraklion for 10 days last year and I reckon 7 days out the 10 was late 30s and stifling. Not too bad if you are just in the pool and on the lounges but even then the sweat was pouring off me doing nothing.
