Another good tip;
instead of putting GB plates on put Wales or Scotland tags on. Less chance of getting pulled by the gendarmes. (ooh-err)

Avoid the French national holidays when travelling, and all of August.

Very fair point again.

Having said that I was quite welcome in 2004 wearing an England shirt in SW France as world champions after they had won the Grand Slam.

My experience is that most French people are very kind especially if you speak Francais to them.

I agree about the french holidays and if you want to practice francais, http://www.tf1.fr is very good.

Don't get me wrong pd, after living there for a few years i grew to love the country and was shown remarkable kindness. The coppers on the other hand...

I agree about trying to speak a bit of lingo as well. The basics like please, excuse me, thanks etc can get you a long way. And the French women love the sound of an English man speaking French.

We've not been since 2004 and maybe the police dislike us for euro reasons. #speculation

Pure guess work.

I love France and French people. They'll always have a place in my heart.#manyhappymemories

Brilliant. I like your style.

This is a cracking press conference from Taylor. "Don`t be so silly, Rob. It`s got nothing to do with Norway."

Walm?

Drove to the south of France last year OP and for the whole of France - there and back - I encountered about ten minutes of traffic. It's just open roads the whole way and the tolls arent too bad either - a couple of euros a time - so considering the petrol you save not being stuck in any traffic you're probably up by the end of it.

It's one fuck of a long way though and going down I did it in 23 hours with just an hour's kip somewhere in northern France. By the end of it I had a zombie stare and probably shouldnt have done the final few hours but you just want to get there by then dont you.

Going in 10 days booked to france and just driving, Italian lakes prob stick to the N roads if you got time, no tolls and are pritty good. Miss Paris if you can. Got 3/4 weeks off so no rush to get any place

Thanks everyone :)

How long to the Garda then ? Went a few years back and it was out of this world ! Malchesne (sp) has to be seen to be believed !

My best holiday ever was on the border between France, Switzerland and Italy with this company.
Why not fly straight into Geneva and enjoy wherever you want to go.

Because he clearly states in his OP that his wife has a fear of flying. Hence this thread.

Well how is Pete and his wife getting to the Uk?

Why not spend an extra hour flying into Geneva?
