I'm living in the middle of it. The kid that just went off on his eScooter after firing rockets at the Gardai is not bothered with any of that, I know this for a factAre you new to the world? Disenfranchised citizens of a city they have felt for a while is overrun with immigrants, little work, little prospects and little motivation to change things is pretty much how every riot ever starts.

That’s a copy and paste from the BBC app.I fully understand we need to know the facts. That also falls in with the media, which using inflammatory terms like far right doesn't help anyone.
The Garda police spokesman used that terminology, hence it was reported as such.

Well, FOX News, the most highly watched news channel in America, led with reports that the car crash & explosion in Niagara Falls was a terrorist attack perpetrated by a car bomb at the Border!!!
Seems it was more likely a middle-aged rich fella on a $300,000 white Bentley who either had too much to drink at the Casino or had a medical emergency while at the controls of the vehicle, hit the median at high speed, went airborne, and killed himself and his wife in the resultant crash and fireball.
Of course, it was captured on video IN THE DISTANCE by CCTV AT THE BORDER CROSSING, so 1+1=423, right?!
Not to extrapolate too far, but with the Israel-Hamas conflict creating horrific video of what happens to “other” on a daily basis, and the increasing rise in nationalistic sentiment fueled by seemingly porous borders, any and all racial or ethnic violence is serving to magnify difference and incite further violence in people with significant pent up anger fueled by the very same forces that seek to inflame them…and it all feeds on itself, while reinforcing their beliefs and the narratives they push.
Even after the “terrorist attack at the border” narrative was debunked, it didn’t matter because it fueled the “it’s only a matter of time, though, isn’t it?!” response!
Cue the likes of Trump et al talking about what happens with open borders. Next, they will be using Dublin as an example, and adding fuel to an already raging fire.
We are in a strange time. I’m not sure where we go from here. Police seem hamstrung from forcefully dealing with protests and violence, whist the man on the street seems emboldened to violence, believing he is righteous, and police intervention is brutality, and seeks redress in court thereafter.
We are constantly bring whiplashed right and left by what we see and hear in various, and varied, media outlets, with most of the video lacking context or even a truthful narrative. Yet, it is all stoking the fires of helplessness in those who feel like they don’t have a voice or their voice doesn’t matter…so they seek to either band together to create the change they want (the liberal, left wing approach) or a strong man to right the wrongs that he has identified for them (the right wing autocratic approach…but he’s OUR autocrat!).
Good luck to us all, because it feels like we are at, or rapidly approaching, a tipping point and the Dutch election may just be the first European domino that may also deeply impact this side of the pond!
The sentiment here seems to be that “liberal” immigration policies have created racial, ethnic and religious tension where none existed, and using the democratic process “against us,” they are “infiltrating” our society at the highest levels for their own parochial agenda.
On the back of DEI and the exponential increase in the use and power of the LGBTQIA+ community, many people are now openly expressing their opposition to “other” and the backlash is becoming both more vociferous and more ferocious.
May we live in interesting times….

I’m not in the middle like you so stay safe but I have got many many contacts in Dublin. A lot of ex employees and I’m being sent all sorts from those who are right in the middle of it.
Not sure anybody comes out of this well :-(

I’m not in the middle like you so stay safe but I have got many many contacts in Dublin. A lot of ex employees and I’m being sent all sorts from those who are right in the middle of it.

Just confirmed on news attacker came here 20 years ago. He was/is an Irish Citizen according to the news.

He didn’t define what far right was though, so I don’t know if he thinks Jordan Peterson has instigated it or not.
