I might start selling on Ebay again.

I stopped selling on Ebay because of the 10% selling fee, Pay Pal fee, etc.

Ebay has been forced into this because other selling platforms like Etsy, etc, don’t charge selling fees.

Starting Oct 1, 2024, it is free to sell for UK-based private sellers. Sellers do not pay transaction fees when the item sells. This applies to all categories, except motors (Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles listings). You can list up to 300 items for free each month; after that, you'll pay 35p per listing. You may incur additional fees if you add optional upgrades to your listing, or if an item sells or ships to a buyer in a different country.

I thought Facebook would be good, but it’s full of scammers, time wasters, and people who constantly try and haggle the price down. I’ve sold quite a few things on Facebook, but I’ve had to reduce a lot of those items in price just to sell them.

I had a John Lewis lampshade (on a stand) listed for £10. Everyone thought that was the price for the lampshade and the stand(Lol!), even though in the listing and description it stated only for the lampshade. The lampshade cost £60. It’s in good as new condition. A nice neutral grey colour. But people won’t even pay £10 for it.

Now there are no fees for sellers eBay is going to get swamped with scammers.

The problem with Mkplace against Ebay is there is no commitment. At least with Ebay you will have their money if they dont turn up.
 
If you buy from marketplace make sure you go to their home, never buy from a car park or a workplace unless it's a place you know about.

If it sounds suss don't go ahead with it.

Better off putting up for more. At that kind of price you just attract twats. £20 and then you can let them haggle down and think they have a win.
 
I've sold quite a lot of stuff on EBay over the last few years. On a few items I've actually put the price up after it being unsold a couple of times and they sold almost immediately at the higher price.
 
Still charging for Irish sellers, I see. Same as when they scrapped transaction fees for second hand clothes a few months back. That only applied to UK sellers as well.
