I am sure FIFA will see sense and make the right decisions. With Infantino at the helm and with the experience of Wenger to draw upon they won't make the mistake of banning players who would have been banned if they had travelled and banned on their return, by not travelling and then banning them, would they ?

They’re being banned for not turning up to a game they wouldn’t have been allowed to play in anyway cos they’d have had to be in isolation for two weeks when they got to Brazil?

The rule was brought in to stop big clubs withdrawing players with fake injuries from international duty who then play for their respective clubs straight after (Ryan Giggs Rule).

However it has been rarely instigated.

A global pandemic should be seen as a reason not to enforce it.
