Ederson (defensive midfielder Atalanta)

He wasn't shit but he wasn't great to be fair. He admitted it himself that he found it tough.
He certain wasn't the player he is now. He had no sense of danger, constantly turned into trouble & ironically teams could conter attack us. The block at Anfield in the final minutes was probably the making of him

It shows that if you have the talent, where hardwork & working with the genius that Pep Guardiola is, can get you

If we end up with all three Gaughan briefed in the new year (Ederson, Marmoush and Khusanov) and then obviously Reis and maybe Cambiaso you got to admit that it has been a fantastic window from the higher-ups. Rectified a lot of issues and sets us up nicely until the summer where we could even flirt with the idea of a Wirtz plus another deeper midfielder

Let's see where we are in 12 months. Our transfer record hasn't been great recently. It's one thing bringing in players and another thing bringing in quality players.

Of course, but after the last couple of windows actually bringing in players is a good start. And if we end up with the ones we actually want before the market opens, and not a end of summer panic signing like Nunes obviously were or a punt like bringing Gundogan home even better.

Anyway judging on the players we are targetting two things come to mind. Power and pace. Precisely what we are lacking and precisely what football are evolving towards above all

If Tchouameni is available for a similar price, I’d rather we sign him. Ederson seems too limited on the ball for a Pep side.

How many times have we been broken on and had our aging midfielders jogging back. As the game against Chelsea showed we don’t want for lack of ball players, of dribblers and with Marmoush scorers too.

Fundamentally we seem to be slightly edging towards more of a transitional team. Ederson works his nuts off, he’s fast and can get back quickly and loves a crunching tackle.

He would add a huge amount of something we don’t have to this squad. He’s experienced in title races and the champions league.

For me this would be a great signing and one that would surprise people. Yes we love passing kings like David silva but give me a warrior and he’ll win our hearts just as fast.

Never taken any notice of Ederson.....but being one of the current Brazil midfielders ( with Bruno G, Paqueta and Diaz) at least 2 of them must be distinctly average at best....for Brazil to currently be so wank?

Plodri’s omission from the CL final in Porto will haunt me to my grave
We were running him into the ground already back then even though Ferna was in the squad. Rodri had a brilliant 4 months after christmas but were visibly exhausted in the games leading up to Porto. The consensus was that Rodri getting benched weren't that surprising but flogging him in all the games leading up to it and not replacing him in the deep role with Fernandinho but rather our top-scorer was crazy stuff. Also starting a woefully out of form Sterling.

But as I posted the other day, very happy in hindsight we won our first in front of a full stadium. But few games have left me as empty as that final

Might be more to it than that.

Coaching? Tactics?

Close proximity with Neymar, Antony & Vinicius?

Completely

As you said sets us up very nicely for the summer to chase the “major” signings.

Summer priority - a 6/8 hybrid who could be viewed as the long term successor to Rodri but can play alongside him now. My dream is Baleba.

Try full send a Kev replacement too - be that Wirtz, Musiala whoever.
