Ederson out Sunday

Could all this about Ed being out be just mind games by Pep?

I wondered what went on at HT in Atlanta, but something’s not sitting right with me - gut instinct and all that bolloxs.

What a wind up that would be......
I did wonder about at half time against Atlanta but that is a Fergie type trick, it is not Pep’s style. Pep prefers to keep Klopp guessing about lineups and formation. I haven’t listened to his press conferences since, did he actually say Ederson is out? All I have heard is Bravo can fill in.

No, it was the first question he was asked and he was clear in his reply that Ederson cannot play... no if's or maybe's... he was very clear... but that still doesn't mean he wasn't playing the old mind games

It will be 3-4-2-1 but don’t for a second think that’s pragmatic, it’s purely to create space for Cancelo and Mendy while still having 3/4 in central midfield with Sterling dropping in as necessary or pushing up as a second striker as necessary. Jesus and Angelino come on the the 2nd half for fresh legs and Mahrez to change it to 4-3-3 if plan A isn’t working. Keep the ball, shut the crowd down and the chances will come.

Bravo
Walker Stones Fernandinho
Cancelo Gundogan Bernardo Mendy
De Bruyne Sterling
Aguero
That’s still a fucking good teams, despite all the injuries. Diverpool team with 6 out wouldn’t come close

He didn't play last season, he was injured, Muric was the back up and played in the cup games.

Pep clearly doesn't have faith in Bravo as he wouldn't have felt the need to go out and by Ederson in the first place. I'm sure he used to be a world class keeper but he isn't anymore. He makes our defence nervous which leads to hesitation which leads to the ball in our net.

I would love to be proved wrong tomorrow but I still fear that I'm right.
Mate
It’s not the keeper that makes our defenders nervous.
They are perfectly capable of achieving that accolade on their own!!

Correct. Mahrez is a world class penalty taker too. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
Not sure I get your point or where Mahrez comes into the equation. Nobody is saying he should be taking our pens at klanfield or have I missed something?
And for what it’s worth you can be world class and not be great at penalty taking....

if he wasn't a world class penalty taker he would not be taking them for City, by your Bravo logic. It was as we had very little options, just as the same reason Bravo is playing, as he has a four year deal and no one else would take him off us, partly down to his form, and last season his injury.

Can't help thinking we will see Carson at some point.

That would be my team as I think we need walkers pace in the back three and the fullbacks to push on to block the supply line from Robertson and Arnold.

It is not with hindsight (check my posts) but United set up perfectly against Pool as they have two thrusts of attack.

The play a front three who run between the lines dragging the fullbacks in and allowing the fullbacks space to exploit or by finding the spaces with the front three between the centre halves and fullbacks. We should play three fullbacks to pick up the forwards and push the fullbacks on as there midfield has little creativity.

I would be tempted to play Jesus over Sterling in this one though.
Defensively that’s exactly what I think, Walker and Fernandinho’s pace is vital against Mane and Salah. Let Stones pick up Firmino, although he shouldn’t follow him when he drops back into the false #9 position, that’s when Gundogan and Bernardo have to be very disciplined. Cancelo and Mendy just have to concentrate on stopping TAA and Robertson going down the line, force them inside were we would have 4 vs 3 if De Bruyne and Sterling drop back in to close the space.

In possession we need to be fearless, exploit Liverpool in wide areas and play in behind VVD. People will laugh at me but Van Dijk has lost his concentration in recent weeks, he’s believing his own hype and becoming very lazy in tracking runners and leaving huge fucking gaps in behind. Sterling can absolutely destroy him if we’re brave enough to play through midfield. Personally I’d play Jesus instead of Aguero, simply to pull Matip or Loveren away from VVD to allow Sterling free reign. De Bruyne or Cancelo from that right hand side have the passing ability to put Sterling in time and time again if we’re brave enough to play Cancelo and Mendy high.

If we had Ederson, Laporte and Rodri available I genuinely think we could do them quite comfortably. Rodri and Fernandinho would boss the midfield and make sure we were solid defensively. Gundogan is the biggest worry, just mentally, sometimes he gets overwhelmed in a battle but if he’s bang on his game we still have a huge chance.

Good post mate. I would only go for Aguero over Sterling as his record in big games, for goals, is incredible.

Would play Jesus for the same reason, to drag their centre halves around, his workrate and to offer a bit of a presence upfront.
