MOST might tell you that Premier League stars are out-of-touch with few morals. But Manchester City's Edin Dzeko would beg to differ.

The striker has secretly donated £20,000 to save a 17-year-old's life in his native Bosnia-Herzegovina.

And Alen Maslo, who suffers from a rare bone marrow disease, will be forever thankful for the former Wolfsburg ace's generosity.

The lad's family were called by Dzeko's sister after an appeal for help on a local TV news channel in Sarajevo.

The report said that Alen's only hope was specialist treatment in Germany, which the City star put his hand in his pocket to fund.

"It was amazingly generous. Alen now has a chance to recover if we get him to the specialist surgery in Germany," said one family member.

Alen's brother Almin was also full of praise for the 26-year-old.

"We have high hopes for the surgery and treatment. We are so thankful to Edin Dzeko that this has been made possible.

"We hope the treatment will be a success - and Alen can resume a normal life."

In his homeland, Dzeko has been labelled a hero after his generous offer.

The star has also promised he will take part in a charity match in Sarajevo, which will be dedicated to Alen.

People say well he can afford it. But so can plenty of others. The difference is he gave it. Should be more who donate to worthy causes like Bellamy does. Make it well known & shame the ones who don't.

As a person I think Dzeko is quality. You can see from the celebrations at both the Fa cup final and the QPR game that he looks a great person to have around the squad.

As a player he can score goals when given the supply. His touch around the field ranger from sublime (Arsenal carling cup) to awful.

To me he is a Nistelrooy type player who will score a bagfull if given the service.

He needs width and I think if we could get bale he would be perfect for him.

I hope he stays and like Horlock before him, whilst his goal was probably the least celebrated at the Etihad this season it laid the foundations for the best moment we have ever witnessed and if he does go we do owe him our gratitude.

Nice lad doing that fair play to him i always liked dzeko he just needs a run of games and more balls in box. I hope he stays
