Edin Dzeko

Watching Erling today got me to thinking about Edin. He’ll always be loved by blues and on balance he was a success with us but when we bought him we all thought we were getting a killer finisher top class goal machine, maybe not quite at Erling’s level but not far off, yet things never really panned out like that.

I think that was more our fault than his - I wish we’d played him more often as a buccaneering centre forward rather than on the wing or as a link up man as was regularly the case.

Easy to say that now but we had Aguero in that position.

In truth thought the same myself today, but Erling is more physical and quicker, not sure about him being a winger !!.. also at that time we seemed to have many more options up top, hence the rotation...I sincerely hope Erling gives us more than 2-3 years.

Edin was better in the air and Haaland is much faster and more technical with his feet.

Dzeko had some great moments but his first touch wasn't always up to scratch.

The similarities are that they're both tall goalscorers who came from the Bundesliga. Apart from that they're very different beasts.
