Our PL2 campaign resumes Saturday morning with a trip to Blackburn Rovers, which is live on City+...

We are not doing too well so far this season stuck in mid table, our opponents Blackburn are doing even worse 2nd from bottom...

Hopefully the lads can get a much needed boost of confidence.

The u18s also play tomorrow...
Screenshot_2025-10-24-21-09-08-776_com.mancity-edit.jpgbut unless the academy page uploads goals as they happen, then beyond score updates it's unlikely we'll see any of the action until later.

Would be great if they would let us in on the secret when things are delayed.
At the moment Alistair Mann is is doing his best Norman Collier impression, wonder how long it will take to rectify.
Last week the under 18s pictures failed for 20 mins and no one at City seemed to notice.

Now we've got our two best wingers on at least and hopefully Sangare has a point to prove up front too, when we've actually had the shots they've been horrible it's like our lads couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo today, having said that it also feels like all we need is a goal and if one does go in it'll completely turn the game on it's head.

Problem with our two best wingers ‘decision making’. Currently for me Muir a much better all rounder, knows when to pass, when to run, can go either way, 2 feet, more rounded. Gray once again changed the game as well, such a good football brain looks 16 but plays like he’s 27.

The above said I do think the 2 lads you refer to are excellent talent but more layers need adding, you can’t run at 3 defenders in PL

Warhurst was unlucky with his header Mukasa was unlucky with his free kick late on too, poor defending lead to being countered very easily when they won their penalty and the lads just couldn't recover after going two down.

We had the possession and the shots but the decision making was very poor at times think we made a mistake not starting one of McAidoo or Reigan Heskey, we lacked enough cutting edge despite having possession we couldn't get a break, then when we brought both of them on they resorted to desperation trying to do too much by themselves to pull us back in it not thinking clearly enough.

Blackburn did defend resolutely to their credit it's definitely a disappointing result though but it's all part of the learning process too the lads just need to dust themselves off, the league campaign has started much worse than expected and we probably won't win the league outright as a result, the lads should still have enough about them to do much better they currently are doing.

People just tell me how good our manager is when I question his tactics - that's 3 away defeats in a row and he carries the can, especially with the array of talent at his disposal.

First half was quite abysmal, the second was much better in play but we didn't have our shooting boots on at all today... I think the EDS team's formation has been a bit strange lately though.

Something I said after the Liverpool or Villarreal game during the past week is that it feels like our tactics have shifted this season, I'm not sure whether that's a club decision at the top (most likely) or Ben Wilkinson's decision as the manager but it feels too top heavy, there's not enough balance defensively for instance the counter attack that lead to their penalty and subsequent goal was ridiculously easy for them.

It kinda of feels like we're trying to become more of a pressing machine following Pep Lijnders arrival at the club, that our youth teams are starting to emulate that way of thinking which is quite an important step in a way.

Although I'd agree with the club philosophy that we should play a certain way at all levels and encourage pressing possession and attacking play, I'm not sure having only one central midfielder in most games is helping the EDS lads like Charlie Gray who had no support last week, today it was Femi Fapetu's turn as a lone defensive midfielder he's not the greatest technically either he had all our attack players in front of him, just ike Charlie Gray did last week there's not enough balance they're getting out crowded but maybe Finley Gorman masked problems.

It seems like there's not enough defensive support from midfield and for me we don't need as many outright attacking players on the pitch all at once, if anything having that many attacking players it just means they're only gonna end up getting in each others way or that's how it seems to me.
