EDS vs Derby 7pm on City+

You can take out a red card from a player but you can't put a hat trick in his boots. He a 17 ffs. People saying he will not do it here cause of 2 reds, but he is banging them for fun.
Just as well that no one has said he won't make it here then?

FFS indeed.

I don't keep up with every EDS game, but if that is the second time he's had a red against Derby (his old club) this season then he deserves to be punished by the club, not rewarded. I missed it last night was away from the screen, and didn't know until the final whistle, and I can't remember the first time, but it can't be a coincidence it's twice against Derby.

I guess it’s a fine line for the club to tread. He probably should be punished and miss the Cheltenham game, but as it stands he won’t play another EDS game for a month so I’m not sure if that really benefits anyone.

Maybe last night will be a bit of a wake up call for him, but then again I thought that after the Utd game where he was incredibly lucky not to get a red card for a deliberate forearm smash on one of their players.

The first match he got 2 yellows and on the limited highlights it doesn't show him getting sent off so not sure why he walked. Last nights straight red was just silly.

The first time I saw Liam I thought, and it's without a shred of hindsight, that he was a red card waiting to happen. What I saw of his second game confirmed my earlier thoughts. He'll be ok if the hat trick comes before the red card and the red card is within the dying minutes, but it won't do team morale any good at anytime, and it's the kind of thing that some people will take as the main part of his game, and it will blight his chances. There's a bit of 'maverick' about him and it won't do his game any good.

Way too temperamental and impulsive at times. Needs a stern talking to. I'm all for physical players but not when it can be detrimental to the team. Immensely talented but he needs to stay calm in most moments.

he’s only 17. He’ll grow out of it. However I would say aggression is part of his game and he needs to keep a bit of that

i like a bit of fire in a player and when its channelled the right way it can be great ? but when its daft and pointless and hurts the team then its a problem. he has that look of a young rooney and that fire and loose cannon that needs taming and protecting and given lessons about his future conduct if he wants to play at the top levels

so lets hope this is a hard lesson and it can be the making off him ? its no good scoring a hattrick then get sent off because the red card stands out more and will miss games

The thing about Rooney, when he kicked somebody, or elbowed them, the cry was that the passion should not be removed from his game, whereas with any other young buck, like Liam Delap, they will see the dirty play for what it was - foul play. He doesn't need to add the fourpennorth onto a tackle, but it did remind me of the time his Dad was kicking the shite out of SWP when he was on the floor, SWP took a swing at Rory with his boot and got the red card. Can't remember whether Delap Sr got a card or not. I don't think he got sent off.
