I know it'a over still I cling, I don't know where
Went to see Elbow at The Apollo on Thurs 30th.
Was really looking forward to as they'd played the week before and some of the
lads on here were giving them glowing reviews.

Well Elbow were f*ckin' amazing, it was the best gig I've seen ages.
Guy Garvey's voice is so rich and textured, that I felt myself welling-up a few times
just listening to him. That man has soul.

I went the week before and it was a great gig. Did Hawley come on for The Fix?

The Fix is one of my favourite Elbow tunes, love Hawley's voice and the lyrics are brilliant.

Know what you mean, the tracks got a real atmosphere to it, I get a picture of a couple of old-school gents
like David Niven and Terry Thomas playing crooks, "with a plan" and a backing track from
the "Third man" era. Love that track. Richard Hawley's "Ladies Bridge" was my favourite album of
2007. A timeless bit of rock n roll.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Was talking to a mate about it after the gig, and there's something mystical about it. Can't really pinpoint what era it's set in, but like you say can picture a couple of old school gents in the 1930s planning it.

Can't wait to hear any new stuff by 'em, they are a class act.

It was a first for me, i was completely sober and stood right at the back with the 'breadknife' so i took everything in and can still remember it.

The most noticeable thing for me was the quality of Garveys voice. He sings like an angel.

I could have done without everybody singing along at the tops of their voices though. Why do people do that?
And a girl neear me never shut up banging on to her mates from start to end. Again, why?

twas a top gig. and at an hour and fifty minutes, my choice of purchasing seats, instead of standing, was fully vindicated.
realised too, how much better the sound is upstairs.
