Anyone go the Apollo last night? Great gig I thought, they've got a quality back catalogue these days. Starlings, Station Approach, Forget Myself were the highlights but all in all a top night.

They're brilliant live mate. We got the bonus of a Hawley cameo last night for The Fix, hope you get the same.

Guy is a top fella, he was best man at a mutual friends wedding about ten years ago. I was working away and couldn't get home for it. Elaine took the kids and my lad James who was only about 6 at the time was really missing me. He latched on to Guy and spent the whole day following him around. Instead of telling him to piss off, he actually made time for him and spent a large part of the day keeping him amused. I've still got some pics of them both stood on an empty plinth, pretending to be statues.

They seem good eggs, the drummers son is in the same class as my 9yo nephew.
My bruv talks to him at the school gates when they drop the kids off. He even made it back from London for the school-run the day after Elbow won the Mercury. A week later his lad brought the trophy into class for a "show and tell". Cool as f*ck.

Went last night . Just about topped the gig in April. Some Riot , Station Approach, Leaders of the free world and Mirror ball were wonderful.
Met Guy's girlfriends mam in the Church before the gig she invited us over to Mojo's for the after gig , wished we'd gone just to shake the lads hands if nothing else.
If one band deserves every accolade it's Elbow, as my mate Say's "they might look like binmen , but they sound like angels"

Haha, me and my mate were saying something similar before the gig. Guy Garvey just looks like your stereotypical Manc pisshead, but he's got a great voice and a brilliant lyricist. Glad they're finally getting the credit they deserve.

Know what you mean, I'm well tempted to get tickets off a tout for next Thursday. I originally bought the tickets for last night as a birthday present for my missus, as she loves Elbow. Was gonna be our first night out for a while since the little 'un was born. Unfortunately she fell badly ill yesterday with a stomach bug and couldn't make it. Like a true gentleman I snapped into action.

Bought some Nurofen for her on the way home from work, texted a mate who was desperate to go, and got half cut in town watching a great gig. She'll forgive me one day. No point both of us suffering, right?

I'd have done the same, except I wouldn't have bothered getting her
the Nurofen, that's the price of another pint... credit crunch an' all that.

I hear you brother Swales, but I'm no fool.

It was a pack of six, gave her two and crushed up the others before mainlining them straight into my eyeball, for the win. It maketh the gig.

LOL, I normally get me missus to blow 'em up me arse with a McDonalds straw.

That's so last year, mate.

Met Guy Garvey a couple of times at I Am Kloot gigs, he's big mates with John Bramwell.
A top geezer and a great band. I still think 'Leaders Of The Free World' is their best record though.

been a big fan of elbow since i saw em supporting the manics on the know your enemy tour.went on thursday and was without doubt the best i've seen them (and they've always been great). atmosphere was amazing, like the local heroes coming home. got myself a ticket for next thursday as well!
Elbow remind me a lot of early gabriel era genesis, especially when they do their acoustic stuff. guy sounds like peter gabriel too!

Can't wait for Thursday, but you've worried me now.
Phil Collins might turn up and give a drum solo.
