A hundred years ago this month the Zinoviev letter was published in Britain. Supposedly a letter from the head of the Comintern in Moscow to the British Communist Party encouraging a Soviet-style revolution among British workers. It was a fake but the letter caused a sensation with a General Election coming up a few days later. It allowed the Conservative Party to accuse the Labour Gov't of Bolshevik sympathies and led to a resounding Tory victory at the polls. Published by the Daily Mail (who else?)

Now nothing like that could ever happen in the U.S. with an election pending.
(October surprise, anyone?)

Trump and Putin in 2016 say hi

The United States has the most powerful intelligence agency in the world.
It's hard to imagine any other country being able to bribe the President of the United States.
What is more difficult to imagine is that there are Americans who believe Trump works for Russia, or Biden works for China.
I hope they're not serious.

It (partly) caused the downfall of the minority Labour Government. They lost the subsequent election.

It was also the treaties with Russia that raised huge concerns - history may have been very different had they succeeded in being passed.
