But that clearly shows the struggle he will have breaking through as Foden/Cherki are the future and Bernie/Kova are on the way out and is the far more sensible pathway to break through.

Maybe Reijnders can still be like that, he has time to adapt, but im surprised how weak he is overall.

I think there is a bit of Gundogan about him too. Eye for goals, weak defensively, but Gundogan was a much better press resistant player who aided in the buildup up alot more than Reijnders seems to have shown.

And then the main problem, Foden has now taken that Gundogan role, as Cherki has sorta become the new Kevin (not Foden).

Not to digress again but I think Marmoush was bought for the left hand side, and to deputy for Haaland too, I don’t think the club saw the upturn for Doku coming.

Plenty of games though.

Anderson is my choice for the Bernardo replacement, good under pressure, gets himself about, intelligent in possession.

I think even if there is a summer release clause we will try in January by offering £10m-£15m more than what is in the contract.

I think the club know with the world cup, him needing a holiday post world cup, and the bidding war between us and the few other clubs linked, we could be looking at a close to deadline day summer signing. Meaning he won't have a pre-season with us.

I don't particularly want us to sign a player for £80m or more and not give him a pre-season.

If we want him I would just try in January to get it sealed. He could be the difference between winning a trophy and he will have 4 months with the lads ready for next year. That extra money will be worth it.

If Anderson is the man the club wants I hope the club try at least anyway.
