Controversially titled "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" produced by Dr Dre and Rick Rubin and due out in November.

What are Bluemoon's thoughts on it?

Some snippets on the new adverts for Beats:

I enjoyed Recovery and his stuff with Bad Meets Evil but do think that he's maybe lost a bit of focus but understandably so. He's no longer a hungry 25 year old out to show the world his talent but is now a early 40s megastar with a very successful career, international acclaim and a stable and sober life.

Titling his next album "Marshall Mathers LP 2" is pretty ambitious in terms of the message that it sends and the hype that it now has to live up to. MMLP is arguably his best album in terms of mass appeal. Though perhaps not as raw as Slim Shady LP, Kim, Criminal, Stan and The Way I Am are all honest enough to make an impression without the edge of the likes of Brain Damage or Just Don't Give A Fuck.

If I'm honest I think he'll do extremely well to even approach that type of quality but after rebleaching his hair blond, getting his shit together and purportedly "re-finding his voice", it's at least a bit interesting.

First single from the album drops tomorrow apparently.

I just hope he stops yelling.

Interested to see what rick rubin will do though

He hasn't really been very shouty for a few years. When he was moving onto Relapse you could make the argument but since then and maybe even including Relapse, he's been moving back towards great in terms of quality.

No idea who rick rubin is, so don't give a shit about him, didn't know he was bringing out a new album, but i am officially super excited!!!!

I don't know my music industry as well as BillyShears so I'll let him explain why Rubin isn't some daft throwback but someone that we should be excited about co-producing an Eminem album

He's rightly respected and no daft throwback, but the loudness wars were a very real and pretty obnoxious.

If it's owt like the crap he's released before , it'll be shite !

First single drops tomorrow does it? Drops. Is nothing released anymore?

I know who Rubin is. Quality producer. Quite why he would lower his standards to put his name to that rubbish is beyond me.

Same old, same old.

When you get to a certain age you like what you like and I know bombobib knows he knows what he likes. I have never listened to a lot of music by white americans with spikey hair, tattoos and shit pierced through parts of their face. No need to as it'll be over 85% shite to my ears

I can almost see the disapproving downward curl of the mouth and you telling your teenager to "turn that rubbish down I can't hear meself think!"

Fair play ;-)

I can see that I picked the wrong audience for a discussion on a music album

I listen to the links you put up. It's Eminem. As I said, same old same old. Unless they were old links. In which case I'm sorry.

I was trying to start a discussion on his decision to call it the Marshall Mathers LP 2 and the message it potentially sent out after Relapse and Recovery. Possibly deviating into a discussion on his rise and fall in quality over the last few years, I don't know.

I wasn't expecting this otherwise I wouldn't have posted :)
