Who else feels that last night was the final chapter of the story written by Mancini's core squad ?
To me, it definitely has that feeling.
End of a circle, end of a glorious Era. Many great memories to cherish, but also many grieves to get along with.
Seven seasons, almost a decade, and six trophies ( if you count the Com Shield as one ).
Yet, that rancid taste of underachievement that i can't seem to get rid of.
Time to bid farewell to a bunch of players who are now catching up with their ages.
The likes of Pablo, Kompany and Yaya will be remembered as true City legends, worthy of statues.
It is now the genesis of a new circle, a new Era, that will undoubtedly see Pep performing a major revamp of the team this summer.

and it was actually the end of the era at the end of last season. the board tried to squeeze one more year out of a declining lot, which could backfire if we finish out of top 4.

But you are right, time for some major changes and start a new 5-8 year cycle.

The era ended ages ago, it's just that the club didn't plan anything for dealing with it.

Unfortunately, if we want the sustained success that the owners want, there can't be an 'era' - we need to keep constantly and consistently refreshed, be it with decent signings or developed youth products.

Other teams will know we are desperate now, we are going to get well and truly bent over in the transfer window. Should of started forming this new era 2 years ago

Every great squad we've had has underachieved.

There was never any getting away from that with Pep coming... fingers crossed we get top 4 then players will be falling over themselves to come and agents / clubs will exploit that

Sadly the era has ended and we find ourselves looking at a number of key signings to replace those players possibly all within one summer.

Two new fullbacks minimum, a replacement for Yaya and a replacement for an increasingly injury prone Vinny.

Poor planning has been the major issue. Full backs having grown old together, expensive aquisition of two centre halfs who have not convinced, two midfielders purchased more noted for the defensive part of the game while the rest of europe has moved on and are purchasing more creative players for the olding roles.

Similarly the width is provided by two wingers one of which does not look motivated or have the heart for a fight (sterling) and the other who undoubtedly puts the work rate in but fails to score ever, and is one dimensional in his play.

The core left Hart, Clichy, Sagna De Bruyne, Aguero, Kelechi, Silva, Nasri are still a formidable bunch but everyone else could be replaced dependent upon what other options become available.

100% end of an era. The core team of players have won 2 league titles, 1 fa cup and 2 league cups in 6 seasons. It's not bad! However let's hope the next team that Pep builds has even greater success. I think though, us fans, will need to be patience because this team is in more of a mess than we think and most of our best players are now over the hill or injury prone.

I think Pep's third season will be exciting and I know Pep will leave the team in a much stronger position to how Pellegrini is leaving the side.

Rememember when Mancini said after the winning title that every big club needs to add one or two top class players but than came the Barca boys .

Been a good era, even if we've not been so great this past 2 seasons. Had many trophies & played some great football along the way.

Shame the sadness that should be associated with ending this era is being lost due to the poor performances this season. Like others have said we probably missed the boat when it came to starting our new era by about 12-18 months - but it seems clear next season should be that start, so that's something to look forward to.

Let's hope our next era is even more fruitful.

I think Pep will turn things around very quickly. He arrives with a much stronger core set of players than when Mancini took over. I still think we will win the league in a canter next year. The Premiership at the top is very poor at the minute and with Uniteds problems there is not really a consistent challenger to overtake each and every year.

It will take Pep 2 years minimum to sort the post MP mess out. Thanks MP.

Definitely under achieved, we should have won the league title 4 times. I remain a fan of Pellers but fear history won't be kind to him.

Certainly an end of an era.

Whilst it has been successful I still feel that one of the best cores the PL has seen has been wasted on a shit manager tho
