If we beat Andorra and Kazakhstan in June?

YEP! 21 points makes England a dead cert for 2010!!
 
that can't be right

we are half way through the qualifiers therefore there are 5 more games and 15 points available

if we win the next 2 only and lose the last 3 we'll have 21pts

now if Croatia or the Ukraine win all the games they both will have more points

I think that only the group winners qualify automatically and the second place goes into another qualification round

The best eight runner-ups will play a home and a way play-off game. The winners advance. Groups nine's second place is pretty much out.
 
Actually Australia are pretty much the first team through... if the Bahrain-Qatar result had gone our way we would have been mathematically through. As it is we only need one point from 3 matches.

But Australian's aren't very good at football. ;-)
And Asian football wouldn't be of the highest standards anyway, compared to Europe or South America.
