England vs Wales - Euro 2016 - 16/06/16

Just watching the highlights now (at work this afternoon). Had to laugh at Coleman's comment; "Vardy was a mile offside, but the ball came to him off Ashley Williams". So, he wasn't offside then. Also had to laugh at Hart's mad dash up the pitch to join in the celebrations for the winning goal.

BBC ratings...although I agree with some...what a load of bollocks that shrek given motm (again)

Joe Hart (goalkeeper) - 4
Shocking attempt to keep out Gareth Bale's free-kick. Poor.

Kyle Walker (right-back) - 7
Excellent attacking option. He has made the right-back spot his own and played his part as the pressure grew.

Gary Cahill (centre-back) - 6
Almost scored a first-half goal and was comfortable when defensive work needed to be done.

Chris Smalling (centre-back) - 6
Had very few uncomfortable moments as Wales failed to gather any real attacking momentum.

Danny Rose (left-back) - 6
Some shaky moments but again was an attacking force after the break as England pressed.

Eric Dier (midfielder) - 7
Very solid presence in midfield. Looks right at home in the defensive holding role. Can improve his passing, though.

Dele Alli (midfielder) - 6
Determined but with little real impact. However, still a class act in the making. Must keep out of trouble.

Adam Lallana (midfielder) - 7
Creative, one of England's better players in that dreadful first half and warmly applauded by the fans when he was substituted.

Wayne Rooney (midfielder) - 8 - man of the match
England's best and most composed player again. Very consistent in the first two games of Euro 2016. Huge influence on the team.

Harry Kane (striker) - 4
Looks tired and off the pace after a long season. Place now surely at risk against Slovakia.

Raheem Sterling (striker) - 4
Missed an early chance and got worse after that with his confidence seemingly low. Hooked at half-time and rightly so.

Substitutes
Jamie Vardy (for Sterling, 45 minutes) - 7

Energetic and got the goal that brought England to life as they finally found some attacking impetus.

Daniel Sturridge (for Kane, 45 minutes) - 8
The match winner. Always willing to try things and has the talent to be a Euro 2016 star.

Marcus Rashford (for Lallana, 73 minutes) - 6
Fearless in his cameo and showed some lovely touches. A golden future.
A golden future?
The lad was dog shit

I was actually surprised the linesman didn't put his flag up though, there must have been some good communication between the guy behind the goal (I assume), the ref and the linesman to say its come off a Welsh head.

Heres my Ratings:
Joe Hart (goalkeeper) - 5
Had one thing to do and fucked it up, bottom left again Joe but not even in the corner eh! Nice celebration with the boys for getting you out of jail, press would have hung you for that!

Kyle Walker (right-back) - 7 - man of the match (because everybody else was bang average or shite)
Allowed to maraud at will by a back line of Wales retreating faster than Napoleon from Moscow. Speedy attacking with mostly shit crossing. No defending to do really.

Gary Cahill (centre-back) - 6
Not much to do as Wales played without any real danger men in forward positions couple of chances from set plays with his noggin but did fuck all with them.

Chris Smalling (centre-back) - 6
Same as above and put under little pressure when distributing from the back.

Danny Rose (left-back) - 6
Does some difficult things well and some simple things shit. Can't head from set pieces in his own box. Good movement in opposition half and creates.

Eric Dier (midfielder) - 6
Gave the ball away time after time which is criminal at this level. Useful stopper and cover for the back 4 but we didn't need that in this game.

Dele Alli (midfielder) - 5
Should have been booked in the first minute the daft twat for a stupid challenge that gave possession away. Anonymous in the game but still a prospect.

Adam Lallana (midfielder) - 7
One of our more creative players but couldn't hit a cows arse with a Banjo inside the box - just pass it to some fucker who can hit the target will you.

Wayne Rooney (midfielder) - 7
Found his best position in this side. Hasn't got 90 minutes in his legs in it though. Gave the needless free kick away that resulted in the goal from Joes error.

Harry Kane (striker) - 3
Was shit again! Couldn't pass it couldn't shoot didn't tackle. Looks tired and off the pace after a long season. Would have taken him off after 15 minutes, didn't look arsed.

Raheem Sterling (striker) - 4
Missed an early chance and got worse after that with his confidence seemingly low. Hooked at half-time and rightly so. A city-like performance all over. Must be better or splinters in arse time.

Substitutes
Jamie Vardy (for Sterling, 45 minutes) - 7
Very lucky not to be offside but fair play. Runs about a lot and makes a fucking nuisance of himself in the opposition box, no space behind the back 4 to run into and use his pace but couldn't be worse than Kane was 1st half.

Daniel Sturridge (for Kane, 45 minutes) - 7
Played in a slightly deeper role than normal, likes to hit the ball really early with no back lift before keepers set themselves, worked a treat this time but left it fucking awfully late.

Marcus Rashford (for Lallana, 73 minutes) - 5
Ran about for 18 mins and did fuck all really. Hardly an inspiring performance but see how he shapes up when we play someone decent.

Wales played like a pub team with 11 men behind the ball. Spent most of the game shitting it that we would score and laughed their bollox off when Joe made the big eared gobshite look like fucking Zico despite it being a meh free kick from 30 yards that he should have dealt with easily. I said to a work colleague why the fuck does he need a wall for a free kick that far out, it just shields the balls trajectory for the first 10 yards and prevents him moving early. England didn't create enough against a mostly journeymen team with relegated MK Dons players in it. Two scruffy goals the winner in the dying seconds. Lets hope it was just because it was Wales. Hams and Slovakia await so lets see how that turns out. Neither side will make it into the quarters playing like they did today. Kane should watch that back to realise how shit he was, Sterling not a lot better tbh. Germany v Poland wasn't a great watch either but both were happy not to get beaten. Those Krauts know how to play tournament football. Glad Ive got them in the sweep at work :)

England fully deserved the win, hopefully we can go through with England but neither side will bother the big boys.

What 'big boys'? every team i've watched has looked distinctly average - the tournament's there for the taking if we click..

Find the negativity on here towards England very strange. We have looked a decent team and will get better as the tournament progresses. Everyone keeps saying we will struggle when we come up against decent teams who have the ball more. I personally think the opposite will happen and that will play in to our hands. Vardy and Raheem will hopefully come into their own and we can hit teams on the counter with our pace.

We look well organised at the back, Russia and Wales have hardly bothered up at all.

Now for the next few weeks I am an England supporter, City do not come into it. I would rather a Scouse bloke (Rooney) and a kid from Wythenshawe (Rashford) do well and help their teams progress, than KDB or Silva manage to achieve with their respective countries. I do not care one little bit that they play for United, all I give a shit about is England.

First half of the first game and second half of the second game; we've looked just about one of the best teams so far. Italy and Hungary were perfect, Spain were dominant and Croatia looked good. Germany looked average in both games. We've been as good as anyone bar Italy and Hungary.

Not being biased but I thought Walker was MOTM. He plays just like he does for Spurs without any fear and always willing to get forwards. I still don't trust him 100% defensively but you could say that about all of England's defence. His game has improved dramatically under Ponch. I think Kane is burnt out and I'm not sure what's up with Sterling but both will be lucky to start next game. It's still a good win but we needed a last minute goal to beat Wales. We have to step it up a bit more if we make the knockout stages
