We currently have devolved governments for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales overseen by the UK government is it not time England had one with the UK government reduced?

I think so, but it would need the government to decide on a federal UK. Don’t think there is the slightest prospect of this government even thinking about it.

I’d give the different the regions had the fullest possible autonomy, then Parliament could restrain itself to dealing only with those matters of national significance ie. defence, trade and foreign policy. The rest can and should be a local competence.

Not that anybody knows how it would work in reality, but i'd like to think it wouldn't be another layer as such, as Westminster could because reduced.
I certainly see the logic, and for me it would legitimize the 3 other parliaments more than it would 'dilute' them. It would also go some way to suggesting the 4 component nations are/should be equal.
Highly unlikely, but a logical concept and one many more than care to admit would stuggle to argue against.

Yeah, if it's elected by proportional representation as in the case of the other devolved parliaments I'm all for it!

Not sure. From what I've seen of them the scotch and blodwyn parliaments are pretty crap and look like a large town /small city council chamber. If it's a way to keep them happy then no harm I suppose, but for us to construct another layer of english government would just be a waste of money. Especially as we are already paying through the nose to keep Scotland and Wales solvent.

No the UK gov has overarching responsibilities for all 4 nations leading to decisions being taken in UK Parliament for England in which Mp's from the other nations get to vote whereas the devolved Parliaments get to concentrate on what's best for their nation.
