Enough is enough

It is incredibly frustrating to the point where it's becoming farce. City (and Vikki) are though TRYING to deal with it. Things have been said/done even this season, even in the last few weeks, to try and bring them into line. But results/performances aren't helping, the things Pep says aren't helping, and what we're saying as supporters isn't helping.
But we've heard that line for years mate.

Bottom line for me is that the bastards sense that if they keep up the assault on our club that Pep may walk, and then they can laugh their tits off that we've even managed to fuck up having the so-called best manager in the world.

I do think a hell of a lot comes back to the top brass at the club, Soriano etc, as we really don't try and push much in the way of positive stories out there.

Whatever she's TRYING isn't working, it's getting worse mate.

This all needs looking at afresh, the I would assume wimpy phone calls and emails don't cut the mustard.

FFS it's not that bad. A few bad headlines & we're all doomed. Not everybody reads the trash in the papers & we're obviously rattling cages - especially since we dared to get the best manager in the world. Give him time - they will look stupid in a few months time. Meanwhile we carry on supporting our club as we are renown for doing

It's as bad as it's portrayed.

It's not just a few bad headlines every now and again, it's the constant drip, drip feed of negative and undermining headlines on a daily basis. There's a difference.

I went on news now man city yesterday. I find that a good barometer of City headlines, as it grabs City stories and articles from all over the media and the World. Oh my, it was dreadful reading. Even looking at the headlines painted a pretty bleak picture of the club ATM.

That aside.

Let me give you 1 tiny, tiny example of what I mean, which was posted on BM this week.

The article was from Talk Shite, and it was about the richest clubs in the World. We are now 5th. Soriano gas done a great job of pushing our revenue up.

So the devided picture along with the headline and article showed united(1st), Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, all 3 bar United made less revenue than City did, and were below us in the table. But all 3 made the picture. And the visual message that sent out was? Where were City in that visual message?

Yes it's Talk Shite, yes it's a picture, yes, blah, blah, blah, but it's small things like that, and the biased narrative, that undermine all the good and positive work that has been done at City. And you can multiple Talk Shite along with Sky, BT, the BBC, numerous Newspapers, specific Journalists, and commomtators, etc.

Like Amy City fan I can take warranted and justified criticism of the club and the team(Everton last week), but when the same media organizations and journalists, no need to name them, go out of their way to undermie City continually, it get's a bit too much in the end.

Look at BT Sports now on a CL night. Fair, unbiased, Richard Dunne, and watchable. That came about because of the fans backlash against their CL coverage of City, and the club had no option but to react. BT were called in, they released a press statement of sorts, apologised of sorts, and ever since the have done what's expected of them regarding City in the CL.

So it shows, that if the club exert enough pressure, media organizations and the people they employ, wI'll fall in line and are fair.

And that's all City fans want.

They locked the entire press pack in the press room after the press conference two weeks ago and two City executives came in and basically gave them what for over their treatment of Pep.

The issue for me is that since Soriano/Txiki have come in, they themselves are completely unavailable to the press. The issues begin and end there for me. If either man were prepared to engage with someone in the press on even a semi regular basis I suspect some of the shit would stop. As it stands the powers that be are so far removed from the media that the media feel they can write what they like.

As a contrast, the likes of James Ducker, Sam Wallace, these guys have got Ed Woodward on speed dial.

The shit club to which you are referring held power after they became successful. They earn the media a fortune. We can't compete with that YET but we will. However, I do agree that someone at the club could make some attempt to diffuse the current situation by releasing some positive press releases. Having said that, they cannot make the press use it or from distorting it.

Only a week or so ago it was in the news that we generate the 5th highest revenue of any club in Europe. More than Chelsea, more than Liverpool and Arsenal, way more than Spurs. We should be able to afford to compete with the shithouses from Trafford in every way really, given the margins at that level.

What that figure really said to me though was what an utterly fucking fantastic job Soriano is doing for us. To increase revenue to behind only the debt-ridden scum, plus Barca, Real and Bayern, is phenomenal, and I believe we'll continue to increase it.

What rankles slightly, is given this financial resource, not to mention whether HRH helps us out sometimes, why we don't really batter the transfer market and go for it with Dele Alli, Lewandowski, Alaba, Bale, etc. A consistently successful team on the pitch would soon see the media sniping diminish.

See the "keep completely quiet until Pep arrives and then the press will be eating out of our hands" strategy has been an absolute clusterfuck then! The press we've had this season has probably been the worst we've had since the takeover.

We had the opportunity to create a narrative with the press of being the jack the lad club that done good. The lovable losers who ended up winning. The underdog who took on the big boys and won. The Trotters Independent Trailblazers. We could have been the example to every club that no matter how bad it gets, there's always hope. There's always the chance of a miracle. We could still have been everyone's second team. The friendly, self-depricating, family club.

Instead we're the mercenary upstarts. The spoilt brats who can't fill our stadium or bother to sing any songs. The plastic club. The fans who weren't there when we were shit. The highly paid, greedy, underachieving disgrace who is ruining football.

And our club and more specifically the PR department has sat on it's fucking arse and let it happen. Played radio silent. Arrogantly thinking we'll adopt a hostile approach to the press. Give them absolutely fuck all. Treat them with disdain and wait for them to fawn over us when Guardiola becomes manager because he's the biggest show in town.

It's been an absolute fucking omnishambles and unfortunately the damage to our reputation is going to take a generation to fix. The PR strategy the club has taken since Gary Cook left has been an absolute and utter fucking disgrace and I'm sick of reading negative story after negative story about the club I love while no one that works there does a fucking thing about it.

Every other week there's a fucking negative story about our attendances. It would be very simple for the club to brief the press that in fact we're currently averaging more than Liverpool have in their entire history. But instead they sit on their arse with their finger on their lips and say fuck all.

It's not worked and they need a clean sweep of the PR department and get some professionals in who know what they're doing and start repairing the reputation that has been so severely damaged.

Good post - I believe you are right in this.

That talkragshite bit was even worse though. Underneath the pictures it mentioned about 7/8 other clubs via thier # inferring they were all doing really well, a bit like the BT ad last season.....One glaring omission. US.

Exactly.

Same hymn sheet eventually....

;-)

We all know what will change the dynamic, so let's see it!

Stuff Spuds, Jesus gets on the score sheet, the headlines write themselves!

"Jesus saves Guardiola!"
