There are quite a few reports that say that as part of his mutual termination agreement, Chelsea retained the right to financial compensation from his next club (any club, not just City), given he still had 3.5 years left.I still dont understand why its reported that City are talking to Chelsea to sign him as manager.
He quit Chelsea months ago isn't employed by them. I dont get what Chelsea have to do with this
Why he would have agreed to that, who knows. Maybe he wanted out so bad, maybe his payout hinged on it. Maybe he thought or knew our club would pay it, having approached him knowing the length of his contract left.
It has been reported for some time, and at the very least he would have known about it. So wouldn't have come as a surprise to the club. It may even be possible it is our club that has found a loophole, and this isn't a case of chelsea delaying it. Who knows.
What's clear is (from Khaldoon's interview of nothing else, never mind the reports) that they are comfortable with it, it has been a long time coming, and will happen when it needs to.
Reminder, this time 10 and 13 years ago, we were still 3 weeks away from appointing Pep and 1 week away from appointing Pellegrini at this point in the summer. I don't remember people asking what's taking so long.
