Eric Garcia to Barcelona

Just massive liabilities, nothing else eh? I think that's a pretty naive conclusion

None of those big corporations to fail were in a similar situation as Barca. The only thing that can continue to hurt the club is COVID preventing fans back to the stadium along with the football tourism that comes to the city. Steady income, a new stadium to increase revenue further, stadium naming rights, La Masia to produce local talent and better financial management to avoid the wage disaster Barto et al were guilty of is what is needed more than anything

It's currently a mess but there is a course correction coming which makes the gloom & doom prognostications infantile
Covid will affect attendances(and tourists) for the remainder of 2021 IMO, whoops.

Sponsors are equally as affected as football clubs and are actively looking for ways to reduce outgoings if not just flat out finished as companies.

How is a new stadium going to increase income when a) fans won't be allowed(or maybe even want to) attend, and b) you only ever filled your present stadium when playing Real?

Stadium naming rights are as equally stuffed as your current sponsors, you'll be looking at companies that are struggling like everybody else.

La Masia is broken(you've even admitted this yourself) so good luck with stocking your team full of talent from there any time soon.

How exactly do you think this 'wage disaster' is going to be solved? After all, no one has actually taken a wage cut but just deferred the payment. The only way you reduce that is by getting rid of your entire 1st team and replacing them with inferior products (Eric Garcia comes to mind).

Your delusion is the only infantile thing around here I'm afraid.

@blue by birth

Out of curiosity or to judge how much of a fan I am? It's an illogical metric. Nevertheless, on average, 8-10 matches a season at Camp Nou

You lot have nice depth in central defense, no reason to bash Garcia - especially if all he wants to do is return home. I am pleased, as I have said many times before, because he is a leader and has a great future ahead of him

Out of curiosity..
As for bashing Garcia I haven't done that.. Just pointed out he's neither quick nor dominant in the air.
He's not a leader in my opinion but he may well turn out to be one when he plays in a weaker league.
If Garcia is asgood as you try to make out why didn't your club stump up the fee to take him in summer?
Could it be your club doesn't have a pot to piss in nowadays..
Do you think Messi will want to stay and play in the Thursday night Cup if you miss out on Champions league?

Eric was a captain at every youth level at Barca, elected by teammates. At City, when played he has been entrusted in the sweeper role which in it of itself is a role specific to leaders owing to the great responsibility/pressure it carries - leader

Guardiola:

"Eric Garcia is so smart, so intelligent. He's a guy who is beloved. I know from his career at Barcelona that every single season he was the captain, nominated by his teammates. This is how good his personality is."

Fee was above market value, moreover it's already been reported Soriano had no intention to sell

I have already weighed in that I believe Messi will leave for City (60/20/20), if there is any chance he remains it will be because of Laporta & his project for the future

I think he'll do well for barca, dominant team playing against much weaker opposition most weeks. Less physical slower paced opposition.
I'd compare it to pique at the rags, he'd never have made it there in our league, but went "home" and flourished.
Although I'd rate pique much higher than garcia.
I think much of the animosity towards garcia on here is caused by a certain arrogant deluded poster

Sweeper role??? He's almost exclusively played CB pure & simple, he's not quick enough, good enough in the air or displayed the positional sense(so far) to play sweeper. And at 1st team level those limitations affects his role at CB too.

I think Rodri in Spain is also a better player than Rodri in England because the game is completely different. All the attackers there are pretty much technitions so he’s not being ran past. It’s a shame but we would never have signed a defensive midfielder from Spain.

We're in agreement, Bartomeu was a cancer and indeed it was petty by City wrt Garcia

No, it wasn't petty. Barcelona weren't prepared to pay City's asking price for Garcia. So City decided not to sell Garcia to Barcelona. End of! What don't you understand, and what can't you accept about that fact?

The world of football and the player transfer market does not revolve around Barcelona (anymore), no matter how much you convince yourself it still does.

That aside. Why should City do Barcelona any favours after what Barcelona have been up to and involved in behind the scenes with the other UEFA cartel clubs against City?

You should know by now? City do things quietly. But more importantly, 'they never forget'.

European Royalty(arf!), powerful people, club wealth, worldwide support have no bearing on City. Ask the owners of United, Liverpool and Arsenal. Sheikh Mansour, Khaldoon, Soriano, and City will take any club on if they try and destroy the City project.

In short, don't f*** with City! That includes Barca!

Petty, what because we didn’t roll over and give you what you want like most refs in Europe do, you utter fucking clown.
I will tell you something else about you, you muppet. When I was a kid I was naively amazed at how many Brazil fans would be at a World Cup irrespective of where in the world it was held. Then when I got older and less gullible I worked out that the vast majority of them were plastics, wore the shirt but had never been to Brazil in their lives. Just pathetic plastic glory hunters supporting the team perceived as most likely to win. Which is just what you are, a Swiss fucking glory hunter supporting the glamorous team winning so many trophies.

I can’t understand why you are allowed in here always bigging up a club who fucking hates us, and often slagging off City, but I know one thing, however intelligent you are, you have no fucking soul, and are just a pathetic plastic glory hunter.

I actually like the fact that you come in here, because it makes me feel good about myself and good about my football club
