Erling Haaland

I am clearly against his coming for the simple reason that he does not fit with Pep, his mentality and his discipline.

Pep does not get along with this kind of player (I'm talking about character and personality not talent) like Ibrahimovic or Etoo. It is for the same reason that he did not want Ronaldo (who wanted to come) and Messi who also wanted to come (The club wanted Messi but not Pep). With his experience, Pep will never again accept that a player becomes bigger than the club. He experienced it once in Barcelona with Messi (besides it is one of the reasons why he left, it is not the only one but it is one of the most important). With Haaland, this is exactly what would happen, it would totally unbalance the team at all levels except the sports (and it's not even sure). How will the rest of the team accept that a player who is not necessarily more talented than them comes to earn 5 times more money than them in his first year at the club? And above all, is his personality totally centered on himself (like Ronaldo and Messi) and explosive going to mix with the other players? I think we don't realize it because we are obsessed with the desire for a striker. I also think we need a striker to have the maximum of tactical options but I don't think he is the right choice.

What the fuck are you on about? He is arguably the best striker available in the summer along with Mbappe, so yes we will try to sign him.

I think you are being naiive. The post you replied to makes good points. It would be foolish not to consider this aspect of signing Haaland.

The post from start to finish is full of things that are… incorrect (being nice here for the people who don’t like me)
Haaland’s “mentality and discipline” is precisely the kind Pep likes in his career. How is he any different from Lewandowski? He’s far less egocentric than Messi (and even other players in our current squad…). Saying Pep didn’t want Ronaldo and Messi himself… really, he knows that? Because we have other informations. Then the poster says Messi is one of the reasons he wanted to leave Barcelona — LOL, I refuse to even comment on this. No player (even Messi… let alone Haaland) would be bigger than him at our club today. But I participated in a talk last September (if I’m not mistaken) that Pep joined as a speaker for a Brazilian investment company, to talk about how he manages groups of people, and he said he likes big egos because he’s learned to take the best in those situations. A LOT of our players have BIG egos. The opinion some people have about what kind of personality Haaland must have is based on a single thing: having Raiola as an agent. That clearly triggers a number of prejudices in their heads. Also, it’s obviously not true that Haaland would be making five times more money than the rest of the players in his first year — like, this isn’t even REMOTELY true AT ALL lol. Ultimately we all have to accept that cliches and reductionisms are part of how celebrities are viewed, no matter how bizarrely false the assumptions are

I think he will not survive as winger for Pep, but as a CF he might.

Pep wingers should have the ability to dribble with the ball glued to their feets, while CF job is easier little bit, he just to press & finish
Sterling isn't that great of a dribbler. Frankly, it's Mahrez and to a lesser extent Foden who are natural dribblers.

I think this kid will be fine.

This is one of the most uninformed posts i've read on here. Yikes...

City fans will always find a way to turn one of most exciting talents who Dad played for the club and supports the club also into a negative somehow...very peculiar.
