I'd rather Jesus or Delap deputizing that back-up role. Delap being similar to Haaland to retain the style we play with Haaland.

Factor in players we can sell from loans (CFG signings), and even the potential sale of Mahrez (which is the only way I see Grealish going anyways), the net cost is probably only 100m. Easy for the club.

You say that but quality players continue to go there season after season. Like it or not [Chelsea] have pulling power.

Because Chelsea are the only big club in London with deep pockets that have a) won UCL b) won PL recently (16/17) c) have depth and are trying to win.

The PL wages are the best in the world and the best players are naturally going to gravitate there. If someone wants to play in the PL and is not from England, London is the cultural center of the country and likely where he wants be unless City, rags or dippers are interested.

Chelsea is a winning project in a favorable city. Not hard to see why top talent want to go there.

Quite frankly, it really is amazing that they are the best London has to offer given the advantages the city offers culturally, economically and socially.

Who is a winning project besides us then?

They have probably the 2nd most squad talent in the PL, the won the Thursday Night Cup, an FA cup and PL all in the last five years. They’ve won a UCL more recently than rags, juve, inter, milan, and dortmund. They have won 2nd most PL titles (hopefully tied with us in a few weeks) with all coming since 2005.

Chelsea continue to spend, on players and infrastructure. Relative to most other teams in Europe they are a legit project trying to win trophies and it shows over the last 20 or so years.
