Wouldn't be surprised if we went for none of the discussed strikers. We won the title and at least one knockout competition playing a false 9. Pep obviously rates the tactic and could prefer to bring in a class number 10. Or possibly another wide player that has left and right options.
Say you don’t understand why Pep played without a striker this season without saying it.

There are 100 reasons why we want him and why he is best for us.
But there is one thing I fear if we don't sign him, is him signing for another PL club
That can be a difference between our utter domination for next decade and a tough competition such is his quality
I will always remember our balking over VVD fees from Southampton was a difference between a shit Liverpool and the one with a PL and a UCL title

I guess the DFB Pokal discussion is somewhat happening in this thread lol.

Dortmund are great at countering, Leipzig defense has no idea how to handle it.

Fooking watching this game on ESPN2 and it's a real head trip listening to the commentators.

The Brit talking in deep descriptive informative manner, as you'd expect, and then some nail-down-the-chalk-board co-anchor Yank explaining the play in American football-inese to the US audience!!

Really plays with your head!!

IMO this is getting things completely the wrong way round.

What Pep managed to pull off this season is incredible precisely because this side is fatally flawed by the lack of a striker.

This might end up our most successful year on paper, but the reality is we've not been great. The quality of our football compared to 2018 and 2019 is miles off.

What are we, 35 goals down on a good season? Drawn and lost 10 games? So many of our wins are by 1 goal, real nail biting finishes.

It's a triumph of Guardiola's ability to adapt and overcome problems that he's managed his way around it, but the answer is not to make that disadvantage permanent...it's to fix the problem. Get a striker. Score 100+ goals in the league and stop needing to rely on the defence playing out of their skin.
I get all that but if a striker is going to cost over £100M Pep could just take the pragmatic approach and carry on with the false 9 tactic.

Would be over the moon if city signed him . But part of me thinks he just wants to move from club to club and earn as much as he can .goes to salzburg then gets a move to Dortmund which is a massive club, he is under contract for a couple more years but his dad and agent are going all round Europe to get best offer/deal. would city pay £100million + for a 5 year deal knowing he may not sign a new deal after and look to 1 of the Spanish clubs for a bigger pay package

Even if that were the case, it’s a no-brainer

Why would he do that?

The club is going to spend £100m on a world class striker eventually. We could try and make the best manager in history overcome not having one, or we could maximise the club's potential over the next 2 years.
