Erling Haaland

I don't see him being happy if he isnt playing, even if he is in the match squad. He is fircely ambitious and he is clearly too good for EDS football,he wants first team regular football and in fairness he deserves it.
The problem....he isnt yet good enough for us,and he has no loyalty to City having not long been at the club.

I hope i'm miles off,but i see frustration and impatience ahead.
I get it, it’ll only highlight your concerns if we sign the old codger/Haaland or Mbappe, to name a few.
Hopefully he has a season or two to prove himself before he gets itchy feet.

To see him rock up at Chelsea would be pretty hard to stomach. He’s a cracking player who would be great at City. He’s in a different league to Kane.
Although he didn’t play amazingly against us in the champs league there were little moments that you could see his raw skill and pace. Our defenders at times looked petrified around him.
Would love it if he signed but looking increasingly like he won’t be unless somehow the stars align and he wants to come here.

Chelsea have a shed load (pun) of players out on loan, and in their squad, they could move on to help fund this move. Plus, with their success last season and FFP relaxation, they’re in a perfect position to “come over the top” on offers from almost anywhere.

Throw in the lure of London, living large in the big city as the new Big Man, and it’s clear City have their work cut out. Plus, Pep is a short timer and Tuchel just rocked up with a new contract, a clear vision and immediate success, so it looks like an amazing opportunity for Haaland. Tuchel knows him, and he knows Tuchel. Werner has been a bit of a flop, but still has economic value, and Haaland walks into a ready made team, top club, top manager, Oligarch owner, London lifestyle…

It writes itself!

It’s only the fact that his Dad played here and he has followed City since he was a kid that City can “offer” that Chelsea can’t.

Weigh those facts against each other for a young, soon to be gazillionaire, soccer player and it makes City’s efforts look rather mountainous to me.

Throw in his holiday pics (pajama outfits and all) and he doesn’t look like the “Cheshire set” to me!

I don't get this train of thought at all mate, Kane is a proven premiership goalscorer who scores more goals than Haaland.

The next best thing isn't always the next best thing, he could come to England and flop but if Kane came to city he would score even more goals IMO.

It’s not just his goal scoring it’s his all round play and his presence. I probably can’t verbalise properly what I mean but Haaland for me is different levels to Kane although that’s not to say I don’t rate Kane as I do think he will do well at city were he to sign I just feel Haaland is the one that would take us to a whole new level.

There’s no guarantees with Haaland, but for me there’s no guarantee with Kane either.
I personally don’t think he’s the right fit for us.
He’ll be joining a team that plays an entirely different way, at a much faster pace than he does now and against packed defences every week.
Add to that we share the goal scoring at City, players chip in from all over the pitch.
I don’t see him scoring more goals for us than he does now, probably less.
Both will score a lot of goals for us the way we play, but I think Haaland would be the better fit, better all round player.
Add to that he’s quicker, fitter, stronger and younger.
I don’t get why it seems we’re being priced out of Haaland, but Kane will cost around £130m+, probably £150m.
In terms of value for money long term it’s Haaland every day of the week.
Him rocking up at Chelsea would be a huge mistake by us.

Bit like england

If we sign Kane and it doesn’t work out we’re stuck with him. If it does work out for a few years he’ll then be worth next to nothing to sell on due to his age. The opposite is true for Haaland, he is a lower risk move even at 150m. The only thing I can think of in favour of Kane is perhaps more realistic wage demands.

I dont get why we cant match the offer. We have offloaded sergio's wages, garcia has left, a couple more might go too.

It really baffles me. I dont buy the agent being the stumbling block like most either.

Completely agree. We supposedly have the ambition to win the CL, but as soon as another serious rival is prepared to pay the asking price we seem to bottle it. If there’s a great player who would seriously improve us then we need to be signing them.

Having been through all that ffp shit with CAS we need to be spending to improve the team, not living in fear of uefa and its bullshit rules that Chelsea, rags and PSG have no problem completely ignoring.

Kane doesn't score more goals than Haaland. He has, over a much longer period, but the rate Haaland is scoring at is higher than Kane at the same age, at his best, and certainly his current.

He also has so much more to offer, with his pace, strength, age etc. Indeed the better player.

It isn't even close to be true, Kane has consistently scored more than Haaland in a league that is much more difficult.

I still say that the new best thing isn't always better than the tried and trusted best thing.

I don't disagree with the second.

The first is a repackaging effort, but lets not get bogged down in semantics.

If we are not paying the Kane fee We are definitely not buying haaland either . Sorry but we need to look elsewhere .

Why does bbc football gossip always publish shit about Pep saying we can’t afford a striker, yet just above it they say Chelsea will bid £150m for Haaland.

I fucking hope to god both are just lies.

I just can’t understand how the club can believe we can win the league again if we sit back and accept being outbid for a key position we desperately need to improve, especially after losing Kun.

Reading that gossip page put a right downer on my mood after the jubilation of the England game. Really really fucked off reading we can’t afford a player. Why do the media never say that about rags or Chelsea?

The one argument I don't fully understand which I've seen touted quite a bit is resale value.

I don't want any City players to have resale value, cause if they're worth a damn, I don't want to sell them. And if theyre not, they'll have little value anyway.

One of the things that has kept City consistently competitive the past decade is we have been able to keep hold of our best players.

Aguero, Kompany, Silva, etc. all could have been sold for profit, but we kept hold of them and they ultimately moved on for frees when the time was right. Kev is an example of another key player who will likely follow the same route.

Whether we get Haaland or Kane or someone else, their potential resale shouldnt be a consideration cause we want them banging in goals in sky blue till the twilight of their careers. Anything else would be a failure imo.
