Erling Haaland

Does it happen to be less competitive than the German Bundesliga or Serie A? Last time I looked, those leagues were dominated by one team. I don’t hear anyone call those ‘farmer’s leagues’.

No you are right

German league is the Mickey Mouse league.

Seria A is Snailia A.

La liga is a 2 horse joke league with one horse fucked.

And the French League is the fucking farmers league.

The PL is the only real league worth any consideration or merit, the best in the world and the only place to be.

What would you call it then as "farmers league" doesn't sit comfortably with you ? Because whatever you want to call it, it's not a very competitive league for a top class footballer to be in . Neymar just picks up his huge paycheck and visits his sister , Mbappe has seen the error of his ways and wants out, but at least he is a very rich young man now. Messi didn't want to go there but it's the furrow he has to plough at the age of 34 because it was the only field that had a gate left open to him . So what shall we call the Farmers league in future then ?
It’s a derogatory term used to denigrate French football. A typical English attitude of ‘our league is the best, we have the best football’, an attitude taken from our own media’s obsession with the Premier League’s own trumpet-blowing.
I thought we City fans were better than that, and belittling other countries’ football leagues (especially when we’ve been embarrassed by their teams) is sheer arrogance.

There's ten years between Kev and Haaland.

City will pay Haaland more than Kev, absolutely no doubt about that.

Haaland is a global commodity in demand and City must factor in the length of service they would get from him and quality during that time.

£385k sounds a lot (and it is) but De Gea and Rashford earn just ten grand a week less than that.

City must protect themselves over the first five years of his deal and that means paying him top rate.

is everything aimed for a summer move or if ferran leaves could we tempt them next month? Would be a HELL of a statement in the january window and would send a message to the dippers and chavs.

Well the premier League like it or not does offer the best football in Europe at this time. The prem for all it's faults and there are many is the most successful worldwide.
It's the only league at the moment that can show off Haalands talent fully and only one team has the squad that can make the most of his talents and develop him further .

So now we’re talking best football and not the competitiveness of the league? In your opinion, the Premier League offers the best football. What are your criteria for measuring this? Standard, excitement, fun, wages? I have seen some utter dross from the PL, and I’m not excluding City, yet have seen some fantastic lower-league football around Europe. The PL has a shit, sterile atmosphere in the grounds, tickets are expensive and you can’t drink beer in view of the pitch. Brilliant!
Now ask yourself: if we get Haaland, and dominate the PL, does the PL become a ‘farmer’s league’? If we win the league this year, it’s 4 from 5, and getting close to PSG-level dominance.

Well, when you put it like that...

Nothing is stopping United, Chelsea or Liverpool from competing toe to toe with us. They have the resources. That’s not the case in France

You know damn well if we get Haaland then we have the potential to dominate the league, but that won't happen the domination part (well maybe one player would like that!!) Simply because it would be the wrong team dominating from the press and league point of view .

You're behaving like someone just said the French equivalent of the N-word. Why are you even debating such a stupid thing?

I may be wrong here, but didn’t a team with fewer resources win Ligue Un last season?
Lille won because of PSG’s unbelievable incompetence and still they won it by only one point. Then what happened was PSG spent a shocking amount of money in the summer window to assure that even with incompetence they couldn’t come close to such embarrassment again

My original post was that I don’t like the term being used, and I believe I have the right to do so on this forum. If other posters choose to then start a debate with me on this topic, I shall naturally reply. As I am now doing with you on this ‘stupid thing’ that is so stupid you felt compelled to write. If you had read my other posts in reply to other posters, you would know why I don’t like it being used. And if you wish to bring in the ‘N’ word, then yes, I feel that calling the French league a ‘farmer’s league’ is borderline racism. We are City, and we are above that

How many points should they have won it by when they have fewer resources than PSG?

And how many home-grown players are in our team?
Well, forgiving you ignoring the fact that EVERY REGULAR STARTER for England plays in England, I would also politely point out that on a good day, we have four of our own team also starting for England.

Can PSG, or any other team in France, say they have four French National Team players in their team?

As you will see, I put “home grown” in inverted commas to enable you to see I was not talking about the official FA or UEFA designation, but home nationals.

Carry on being defensive, but at least shoot straight and pick good examples!

The point is that Lille wasn’t even that great a team. They were just the ones to benefit from PSG’s incompetence. It’s different from when Klopp’s Dortmund won the Bundesliga for instance, by truly beating Bayern in good form

So it’s still fair game to call Ligue 1 a ‘farmer’s league’ because there are few home-grown players in it?
It’s a derogatory term and it’s abusive. Not unlike what we have to put up with with ‘petrodollars’ and ‘Arab money’. And we are quite rightly offended by those terms.
