Eintracht Frankfurt has the strongest Support (i belive 32,000 Ultras are registered). Theyre underrated by the Media and not popular at all, but its like playing in Hell.
Köln is underrated, something like an secret Tip if you want to visit.
St.Pauli and Dortmund have the biggest Fan Groups, Bayern has the most Sympatiest (10 Million in Germany).
Schalke, Hamburg, Bremen, Mönchengladbach, Stuttgart, Nürnberg have also good Atmosphere.
But i think the PL is more authentic, in Germany are all the Stadiums full becouse they have an Freindly Family politics since 10 years. The Support is in Frankfurt, Köln and Dortmund PL-Like, other places not.

I've been to Hamburg a few times and the atmosphere there is tons better than anywhere in the premiership. It is fantastic at the end of the match when they win too.... Scheiz Werder Bremen...

I love those massive flags as well, they look amazing with lots of them. I think we bring alot of this atmosphere more to the prem than any other club at times.

Great quote. This sounds like the rags. The majority who follow united aren't fans, they are 'Sympathisers' (I'm assuming that's what you meant). They don't really care about the result or the team, and if they see it on the telly, they shrug and carry on with their jigsaw. Now if a fan see a poor result it tarnishes the whole weekend/month. These 'Sympathisers' use them like an ageing man uses a sports car. 'look at me and my team who wins stuff, this means I'm good as well'. But as soon as that old sports car doesn't 'work/win any more, the 'Sympathiser' will drop it like a hot potato.
United have less fans than us, but many more 'Sympathisers'.

Yes, Sympathisers. Its like that. Bayern is first Choice for EVENTFANS (and there are many). But Bayern Munich has a pretty strong group called "SM" which is kinda the most creative in Germany with an huge influence of the italian Tifo Style. They are kinda 11,000 Ultras registered. I do not know about U*iteds Ultras, i think they have more Theather Publicum than real Supporters.
The funny thing is, Munich have an "blue" Club too, its pretty the same like U*ited vs City, the same hate, the same colors. Its called 1860 Munich and theyre playing in the 2nd Bundesliga. And they also have more SUPPORTERS in Munich.
