Possibly but I'm in the south stand lower and I can't see or hear anything that's going on above me. That's why we need one end like they have at Spurs. Three sections won't work

Where as a slow loud SERGIO had people joining in

I've been in the Colin bell stand a few times for cup games and each time have been disappointed with the atmosphere by comparison to my usual spot in 109.

Why don't you consider relocating ?

Some of the older fans may just want to come for a meet up with some pals and watch the match and that's their choice. Maybe instead of having a singing section, we should have a pint of mild and a Werther's originals section.

As regards the Dzeko chant I agree it's irrelevant to young fans (u16's) but it's not exactly something from 20+ yrs ago and most fans know it well enough.

What we do lack though is anything catchy for the current crop of players.

One end is out of the question mate. We have to work with what we've got. I can tell you from the opposite side of the ground that on the rare occasions that the upper tier starts a song it is really loud and spreads out into the middle of the stadium because the sound bounces off the roof and out.

Okay. It's a shame they can't make the alterations for one non segmented end. I was at one game this season, I can't remember which, when the stand to my left, where the players come out, started singing. It was great and then sparked more singing elsewhere. We need more of that, everyone had a go at Maine Road.

Our average season ticket holder age is quite old and I think people go out of habit, not because they enjoy it

Lol I heard the total opposite over the last few years - CL is boring so we don't get the support (hence Pep's comments) and PL is where we're vocal.

Round and round in circles and I don't think anyone actually 'knows'.

It sounded OK to me listening on the radio, quite vocal at times , quite quiet at times.

Im not over mithered about being in the singing section though do like a bit of a shout.
i go with my dad, uncle and brother and where as they are happy there im seeing what my 6 year old lad wants to do when i get him a ST. He likes all the carry on behinf the goal ;)

to be fair I was talking more about this season. I’ve noticed a change in the champions league crowds. Yes there’s tourists, but lots more younger fans attending
 
pic from weds night. Atmosphere was good and display at the start was good.

i notice every time the European fans come over to etihad that it only takes about 200 fans packed together in the middle of the lower away block to get things going, even when only 200 sing it echoes round the stadium and travels. Ok we dont have the best stadium as far as noise goes for travelling, but it can be done by being more organised and a song that goes on longer to pic up momentum, gives chance for fans to join in.

Our short bursts of songs dont get chance to get going properly. It has been good lately when we sing the Laporte song or empty seats that goes on for a few minutes.

The issue was that the club gave us (1894) a load of tickets in SSL1 for singers to relocate. We filled this with a few hundred names (I think 650 from memory). The day after we gave those details to the club to process relocations, they announce tickets in SSL3 were near enough half the price and we lost around 300 of the names overnight. The people that took their place aren't all singers. So you're right, in hindsight the club could have offered us either cheaper tickets or seats in SSL3 but neither happened. Hindsight is 20/20 though so it's easy to so we should have done this and that!

We also felt at the time that SSL1 would have been better for displays and flags as it's visible compared to SSL3. At the time we knew rail seating would come in eventually too, and SSL3 doesn't have the correct rake (I think that's the term) for that. We knew as soon as rail seating comes in other areas will be forced to sit where they previously would have turned a blind eye.

The best thing the club could have done in my opinion was to turn SSL3 into a family stand and offer the incredibly cheap tickets in SSL1 and NSL1. That would have improved the atmosphere much more. It's not just how loud fans are, but it's also about goading opposition players, cheering ours etc proximity to the pitch plays a large role in that. There were times in the second half yesterday where we won a corner in front of the northstand and the players get nothing other than a half-hearted clap. Because everyone is sat down there the empty seats are visible too. If fans were standing the last minute goals we score would look better.

This was sort of the issue when the club made both tiers of the North Stand the family stand (previously it was just NSL2) as it made people relocate to either CB/East Stands which were more expensive or to the South Stand where they are expected to stand for 90 minutes and they're probably not the sort of people who want to sing for 90 minutes but will join in from time to time.

The way the North Stand used to be wasn't ever constantly rocking but when I think back to the early derbies at CoMs (4-1 especially), Newcastle when Wanchope scored, Middlesbrough last game of the season, up to Hamburg and Arsenal when Adebayor scored etc. there was times where songs would start and the atmosphere in the ground on the whole was good. True to say they were big occasions so you'd expect the atmosphere to be good.

The amount of times where City score in 80+ minute kicking towards the North Stand and there's no fucker there is a bit of a joke/there's probably games where we've struggled to get over the line and that lift for the end the players are kicking towards may have made a difference.

You have already said it but yes they were all big occasions and why fans are more up for it. Our home atmosphere is poor and can’t see it changing, no matter what effort is made which I know 1894 put so much into. I went old Trafford and it was average at best in our end. An away derby, we are winning and comfortably. You wouldn’t have known it though.
 
Still too loud for me yesterday. I like to arrive and read my book for a while. I have to get up constantly to let people passed which is annoying. Disturbing me 15 minutes from half time to get a beer disturbs my in game meditation. I like to shine the torch on my iPhone for at least ten minutes, and take some selfies. Also like to face time my family hopefully showing them a goal whilst on the call. Saves them some cash. At half time I like to eat my prawn sandwich in peace, really do not want to hear any noise, puts me off. Second half I like to read my book during the build up and noise disturbs that, and only look up when we get near the box. Also then get disturbed again 10 minutes from time when I’m having a little power nap, with everyone rushing for the exit. Really could do with less noise and less moving about in the stadium. Doesn’t happen in the theatre. Everyone should stay in their seats until the interval then go and get your ice creams. Then wait for the credits before leaving.

I genuinely had a bloke in front of me who was getting annoyed because I kept trying to start songs off at the swamp. Fuck knows how he got in there!
 
I thought they were stopping North Stand Level 1 from being the part of the family section? Had this been forgotten about by the club because I definitely remember an email going round advising people to move seats if they wanted to stay as part of the family stand?

Admittedly i watched the game on the box but I thought our support sounded brilliant that day, loud and constant all game.

Having sat up there since it opened, I don’t think SS3 is safe for young kids. It’s too steep both to get up there and to get to seats. Accident waiting to happen for kids that stand. Most people need oxygen by the time they have walked up there. It is a poorly designed stand.

It certainly wasn’t constant or particularly loud. United were shit and silent all game so I imagine we’d have been heard when singing. Just don’t think as a fan base we are overly loud. Doesn’t mean we care less or less passionate just my experiences.
