Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I’d give my right arm for that. That steep n’all, a proper wall!
Yep I got it off here or twitter cant remember. roof needs to come a lot deeper for more sound carry as the southern sun will get underneath it for the grass, stick the away fans in SS1 cut back the south stand roof a little for another Gene Kelly stand , Family in SS3

Thought the youth at the bottom of 115 were top again. Bouncing about and making a right racket.

The SSL1 away section filled with City fans and tourists was quiet.

Thought 111, 110, 109 weren't there usual noisy selfs. Having no away fans to feed off/banter was probably the reason?

Really surprised by how few Real Madrid fans traveled. Regardless of how big the 2 Madrid clubs are, they have a poor away following.
Barcelona are just as bad.

It’s just not in their culture to be big away followers of their clubs. There’s only really Athletic Bilbao have a more Northern European fan culture in Spain, and they’re rarely in Europe.

However, I met a few Madrid fans in Town pre-game and they were sound as a pound. Wished us good luck, said they hoped for a good game. Then on the Met they were singing a song, then City fans would sing one back, that went on from Town to the Etihad. Proper nice set of fans.
(Could be anecdotal with that particular group, mind).

Last home game nearly every fu*ker left with 10 minutes to go
All had valid reasons even though it Sat at 3 pm
Tonight game finished at 10 pm every fu* ker stayed
Am I missing somet ???
If you got to fu*'k of early on Saturday surley you have to leave early tonight ??
Or compare it to the Brighton game last Wednesday. Were there more buses, trams and trains last night?

Everyone is welcome at the Etihad and nights last like night make blues for life. But this is a genuine question: who are these people? Genuinely? Are they on holiday in the UK? Are they students at the university? I saw a group of about 15 being escorted up Joe Mercer Way all wearing sweatshirts and flags from, I think Guatamala or somewhere, with half and half scarves. Would is be some kind of sports club trip or something?

I'm not snobby about it but how do they get tickets and where do these foreign people come from to turn up in so many thousands for a game where tickets never went on Open Sale?
Legalised touting agencies own loads of seasoncards at our place, some overtly and others under sockpuppet names. Single games like last night and PSG at home will have made their money many times over, and that’s before you even factor in the cult and the derby.
There is also the elephant in the room of blues selling their seats on to them. Remember a few years ago when a mob of about 30/40 CSKA Moscow appeared right in the middle of SS1?

Spot on.

Songs that have been sidelined a lot of late got a good airing last night and everyone around the ground joined in, including “We Love You City”, “We’re Not Really Here” and “Na na na na City” (which sounds ridiculous to say we’ve sidelined them, but we had done for ages).

There was a moment when SSL1 had run out of ideas and started singing a Yaya Touré song and it wasn’t catching on, then SSL3 started singing “We Are City, Super City” and the whole ground joined in.

Right there is the epitome of the issue we’ve been talking about for a good while. The stadium as a whole love the City songs most!

We still need to bring many more back that we’ve sidelined for too long:
City, We’re From Manchester (Go West)
We’re The Pride Of Manchester
Oh Man City, The Only Football Team To Come From Manchester
City ’Til I Die
We All Follow Man City, Over Land And Sea

If we’d added some or all of those to the song list last night, it would have been even better.
Haha. I noticed that very moment and thought of you and this thread. SS1 fell back in their old ways just after half time Dzekoing and Here's To Youing and Ya yaing which normally would have killed the atmosphere but the top tier of SS3 took hold of things and boomed out the classics and they were the ones which took off repeatedly.

This photo is cringe af…

Everyone’s known pretty much as soon as we moved to the etihad that splitting our most vociferous fans up is an atmosphere killer, why can’t anyone at the club put their heads together and just logistically come up with a plan to sort this out. There are people who are paid good money to improve the ‘fan experience’ but they don’t seem to grasp that top of most fans list is a good atmosphere.

I used to be of the opinion that surrounding the away fans either side was quite unique and created a hostility and to an extent it does have that effect especially if it’s a loud set of fans/ rivals but we shouldn’t be basing our atmosphere by feeding off away fans. It’s just so disjointed and we need to get all the singers together, it’s common sense…

And then when you move the away fans for cup games like this and plonk a load of tourists in there it just looks so so so odd.

sorry, rant over
Bloody tourists throwing bottles at Benzema, giving our proper fans a bad name

Atmosphere, the latest stick to try to beat us with. Bellend United fans on talk shite trying to tell us it wasn't good yet reporters on Kate Abdies show saying it was fantastic and better than Old Trafford.
Atmosphere was great last night, no complaints. Few flat spots after they scored but so what.
Re watched the game when I got home and the sound on TV was nothing like at the ground for you armchair folk.

I know that there are legit hospitality companies who buy boxes and corporate seats in bulk to sell them on at a profit. It woul; make sense for these companies to buy ordinary seats too as part of the deal to sell on.

Loads of Real Madrid around me last night but they stayed quiet apart from the odd one.

Great game of football ......loved the whole night tbh

It wasn't the same people attending clearly and maybe it was a closer game.

How early do you have to leave to get back to Japan?
