Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Give it a rest Dave! We’re all in this together tomorrow night. Now isn’t the time to create fractious comments.

Rather than belittling the South stand supporters, where most of City’s match support comes from, get behind them, and encourage them to support City throughout the match, regardless of how they do It.

If you all remember, our previous games against the Scousers at the Etihad have always produced great atmospheres, especially the CL match after they trashed the City coach before the first leg match at Anfield.
I’m not belittling. I’m encouraging them to sing the right songs and not get bogged down with that new one or empty seats or Edin Dzeko.

The atmosphere should be great unless we play the kids and get hammered.

Nowt to do with that. All to do with where the noise works best and where the noise disappears. Sadly, the noise the singing blocks will make tomorrow will inevitably be drowned out because there's no roof for the sound to reverberate off.
The rest of the stadium can solve that problem tomorrow as long as the singing areas sing the songs that they will sing. That’s the point I’m making above.

Yh your right would need to be an whole stadium effort in joining in with the chants tomorrow Liverpool will have a massive advantage in being where they are sat in level 3

No offence.

I don’t think many will take notice of your encouragement, even though it’s welcomed. The same goes for me and my encouragement.

For a start, bar the regulars on BM, I doubt the majority of fans in the South stand read this thread.

And when somebody starts a chant off, regardless of what the chant is, the majority just join in, including the crappy, clappy, chants. ;-)

As long as everyone joins in tomorrow night, regardless of the chants, the more anti-Liverpool chants the better as far as I’m concerned, I’ll be happy with that. :-)

Wow, Argentina’s fans have been outstanding so far in the World Cup.

They sing songs quite slowly which means more people can join in. They use drums in a good way. Loads of them stand up and bounce around.

The flags/shirts/scarves waving looks amazing.
Mate speculated about what it would be like in Buenos Aries after the world cup win. Told him it would be like Deansgate after 93 20.

The game when we beat them 2-1 was an unbelievable atmosphere, as good as anything I can remember in my 50 years of watching the blues.
And barely any songs sung all game, that night.

There were some songs in the first few minutes, some after each goal and a few at the very end but that was pretty much it all night. Long stretches of play where ten minutes went by without a song sung.

The atmosphere was generally the entire stadium being enthralled in the game, being vocal towards every attack with a ‘go on’, every challenge a ‘yyeess!’, every shot with an ‘ooooh’, every Liverpool pass with a ‘boooo!’, every Liverpool miss with an ‘aaaaahhh!’, every Liverpool challenge with a ‘fuck off!’…

We will definitely struggle to get songs going tonight because the set up for Cup games is ridiculously in the away fans’ favour at our ground. But we need the whole ground to be involved in every pass, tackle and shot. Liverpool fans will definitely outsing us because they have the roof but we can still out-noise them if we can get involved in the game.

That Chelsea game was dreadful atmosphere-wise. I suspect tomorrow will be the same.

And it's all to do with the seating location of the away fans.

Other then the odd big game. Having the away fans next to the home fans has made little to no difference to our atmosphere. Countless times where the bottom tier of away fans outsing the south stand

I can now see you meant because of the roof / ss3 which I agree with

That is when the best atmosphere is created and its pure, not like the German type atmosphere that I'd created with a conductor at the front of the stand telling them what to sing, they aren't even watching the game. All very false.

Can we have an honest, unbiased and constructive discussions about tonight’s home atmosphere.

And the support of 6000 Liverpool fans in SSL3. And if something similar on level 2 or level 3 of the expanded North stand can be created.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t go tonight. My left knee is fucked and I’m resting it so I can go to the Leeds and Everton matches. So my comments which I’ll post tomorrow are watching the match on the TV. (If you’re watching on the TV, you’re a c*nt jrb!)

I was in 115 and heard them about 3 or 4 times in the whole game. Whoever put them in the whole tier 3 wants sacking as that was a disaster waiting to happen, but they were shit overall. Thought we were ok, not great but still decent and far better than them.

I didn't go either but we were comfortably outstanding by the scousers tonight. The Dzeko somg is getting on my nerves - it was bloody 8 years ago.
What's wrong with a City, City City chant that the whole ground can join in?

i was in 239 and heard them a handful of times - the atmosphere in the SS is loads better but didn’t fancy sitting underneath a full top tier of vermin especially since i took my little nephew.

wonder how much CCTV they caught of the tramps with the flare. glad i was on the other side!

So much of everyone’s view on the atmosphere is dependant on where they are in the ground.

From 115 I heard them maybe 2/3 times all night. More than usual from top tier though granted as Chelsea for example didn’t hear once.

I can’t remember a time where bottom section of away fans in league have been louder than 115, sat in tier 3 on the sides could well be different.

Whether the sound doesn’t carry from south lower or what the one common factor is it seems impossible to get songs going in other sections.

In all honesty I’ve sort of given up in that regard, from a 115 perspective the atmosphere in our end is generally good and don’t expect much more elsewhere. Atmosphere is always better when away fans next to us though.
