Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

I’m not sure I agree with you on the first point. It’s not always, but when ss3 sing lots of sections around the ground do join in. The south stand should be leading the singing in my opinion.

It’s all to do with song choice. 90% of the ground aren’t going to join in songs about Dzeko or empty seats. Ss3 sing we love you city or blue moon (classics) the rest of the ground follow

Ss1 seems to be on a different song sheet. It’s not a criticism, as most of the songs are great, just think not enough of the classics are sung
It’s so simple. Blue Moon, Come on City, Best team in the land, hey Jude, Wr love you city, champione, we’re not really here, Hark now hear, will travel round if sung at the right moments. The whole ground knows the right moments too. I remember us scoring recently and the south stand immediately bursting into “Here’s to you Vincent kompany” at 100 mph. The moment was lost.

Nobody is criticising the south stand but they seem to be getting it wrong a lot of the time. It seems to me that because of the shit acoustics in the bottom tier, lads are using clap clap clap to get songs going which is ultimately leading to the wrong songs.

I’m not having a go. I know you are trying and I’ve contributed to you financially before. But the first five minutes of a game usually sets the tone for the “floating” singers in the stadium and if you’re purposefully clapping out “empty seats at home” and “you thought you’d win the league at Sunderland” and “Edin Dzeko” from the first minute, like in the last home game when it was those three in that order in the first two minutes of the game, you are killing the proper atmosphere, not creating it.

People around the other blocks don’t join in, people who would sing think “nobody is singing around me” and then the singing becomes mainly confined to 400 people behind the goal. It becomes self defeating.

When the big games are on the proper songs start elsewhere from behind the goal for that reason.
Bollocks! “Killing the proper atmosphere”… so songs you don’t like are killing this supposed atmosphere? What a nonsense.

I will try speak with the rest of the SS and we’ll look out for your orchestration going forwards.

I really couldn’t make it any clearer what I’m saying and it isn’t that.
How about just joining in with whatever is being sung? That’s the only way we create atmosphere. I buy tickets adhoc and so I’ve sat all around the ground and I get to most. The SS is the only stand that is trying to create an atmosphere, so complaining about their choice of song, seems to me to be ridiculous.

I’ve been making noise at city matches at home, away and abroad for 46 years mate. If you don’t understand what I posted don’t comment.

Don’t patronise me with “if you don’t understand”

There is zero noise outside the SS, so if you’ve been making it, it’s not very loud…

We live different worlds... You’re Didsbury and Im Burnage. You want Bluemoon sang when it’s time to sing and I’m happy to sing along with whatever song at whatever time! Maybe our lives will intersect when we sing your preferred song at your preferred time and maybe then, we will sing along together. I’ll look forward to it.

You didn’t understand my post so if you feel patronised by me telling you that then tough shit.

The rest of your post is meaningless.

Look how far the stands and fans are from the pitch. A line of stewards, 2 large advertising boards, 4 and 3 rows of step and a walk way, and a pitch run off. No wonder the Etihad isn’t an intimidating ground. I think only the ex-Olympic Stadium at West Ham is worse.

The pitch was reduced in size to meet the requirement of the PL in circa 2016, I'm not sure anyone saw that coming.

That side lost the 3 extra rows and and you can see the 4ft lost at the side. You need some room for the technical area, and it is better no to have a dangerous drop -off.

The bowl shape doesn't help, but West Ham's is 10 x worse. Wolves is also worse, the other to spring to mind.

Arsenal aint much different, just not the first thing you notice.

After sitting in Ss2 for the past 11 seasons I must agree the best songs to start the game & have a chance of an atmosphere throughout are the 'classics' (City, CIty; We love you City, Blue Moon, Invisible Man, Hark now hear etc) cos every single City fan know them by heart & then mix it up with the other songs, including Bernardo, Zabaleta, Dzecko, Ballotelli & my new favourite Follow Follow (love it!) - just give people time!

Is that Liam?

I thought the atmosphere was ok last night (it was good considering the circumstances). I was in CBL3 rather than my usual seat in SSL1 and it's just so different. I was trying to get it going. Stood up, swinging my scarf, joining in all the chants (that I could hear clearly), but it was like pulling teeth. Everyone around me sat in complete silence.

I was clapping along to songs, whistling. I could sense the toes curling around me haha.

As well as the selfie taking tourists last night, had a group of Barrow based Rags sat behind me, desperate for City to lose. Why would you pay money to attend a football match just on the off chance to watch a team you don't like lose? Very weird behaviour.
