Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

You got to laugh at Pep turning to people in the Tunnel Club and Press Box to try and amp the atmosphere.

He needs to realise who is in those seats behind him.

I thought SS3 was very good from my seat, which is the tier below.

Atmosphere was good right behind Pep - really good.

What do people think of Leeds fans, seem nowhere near as bad as they used to be. Maybe the mutual hatred of all things rag has brought them a bit closer to us?

i think where ever you sit / stand particularly SS3 and SS1 you think that is the way. Being in SS1 songs start better from that area, just shows how difficult it is for the two areas to sing together. "bluemoon" is one of the only songs where it feels as though the whole stadium gets going.

Can you hear the away fans that are next to us in lower SS ? We cant hear the away fans in SS3.
I was in CB233 and the noise generated from SS3 when they got going seemed to catch on much more. It’s only seems like two blocks of SS1 really get involved.

That’s because the upper tier mainly sing the right songs but the lower tier get stuck in a rut singing too many of the wrong songs. If they spend all match singing the concourse songs again Leeds will out-sing us tomorrow, and they love giving it all that small club stuff about a library.

Blue Moon
Come on City
City! City! City!
We love you City
Stand up for the Champions
Championes
We are not really here
Johnny Stones
Hey Jude
We’ve Got Guardiola
Hark now hear

Are the ones that will produce an atmosphere. I suspect tomorrow will be very good.

I was in the Tunnel Club for the first time on Wednesday and led the chants of Come on City that spread around the ground - after Peo’s gesturing. Obviously it’s not a very atmospheric part of the ground but we probably made as much noise as City’s singing section against Sheff Utd, at Wembley. It might be my only visit to the Tunnel Ckub but there were quite a few die hard Bmues, in between the Z Listers.

It was only the Kippax Corner who raised the roof against the Hammers IMHO.

I used to be in 111 and moved to 115 when the new singing section came about in 2015. Not many actually moved out of 110-111 as the intention was to bring that area and SS1 behind the goal together as a larger singing area. The reality is that it wasn't as easy in practice as it looked in theory. A few years after I moved out of there, I bumped into someone who was still in 111 and he said it wasn't as good in there since some of us had moved out. Personally, I think on their day 110-111 are still capable of smashing it out of the park and I'll join in with any songs coming out of there if they're louder than our section at that point, but not everyone in our section does that - for some, it's almost like if the song starts in a different stand then they won't join in!
As well as people moving from 111 to 115, a lot moved up to SSL3.

109-111 were top against Leeds last season, their best for a few years. Hopefully more of the same today.

I think the difference in their reaction to Phillips joining City compared to the Villa fans when Grealish joined us was stark.

Leeds fans were sound about it; Villa fans were cunts.

No other set of fans in the country wanted Liverpool to win the league on the last day of last season. Apart from Villa fans. I heard loads of ‘come on Liverpool’ shouts (and it was the kind where you know they weren’t just having a laugh) as I approached the stadium near a big group of their lot. Seen videos of them celebrating when Liverpool scored n’all.

I doubt Leeds fans would have done the same to be honest.

I also thought Villa fans were absolute cunts last game of the season. It's probably why loads of City fans were goading on the pitch. Villa fans travelled to antagonise that day, nothing else

Because the fans that go for premium seats are still equally as much fans as you are.
To be fair nobody disputes that, but the new stand was supposed to be an atmosphere stand, putting a corporate section at the front of it will take away from that without doubt. Also, corporate sections are rarely full so the CGI the club released of the new stand looked so impressive where it’s packed to bursting but the reality is that will hardly ever be the case. No qualms with the club expanding the corporate offering around the ground, but this new stand should be left alone.

It's not corporate at the front. Corporate is at the back if I remember correctly. It's down as premium seating, so something akin to Joe's/93:20 I would imagine. The fans in Joe's/93:20 are just 'normal' fans and equally as loyal and committed Blues as elsewhere. I'm sure any that would relocate to that section would be also equally as committed to helping create the atmosphere.

Indeed. Contrast the animosity between City and Villa fans for the pitch invasion last season, to West Ham in 2014 where both sets of fans applauded each other.

It was half empty in those areas on Wednesday night against West Ham.

I'm sure any ST holders from those areas that choose to relocate to the North Stand would be present and willing to contribute to the atmosphere, otherwise why relocate to the 'singing stand' in the first place when they could just stay where they are?

I've been lucky enough to try a few hospitality days at city this season through work.

While the experience is amazing, there was absolutely no atmosphere, constantly being told to sit down, and about 60% full. Doesn't really scream "intimidating home end" does it
