First time ive been to the ground last night since March and the change is incredible. Driving down ATW it was just breath taking, i felt like i was on a different planet. Its the first time ive truely been able to picture how it looks and understand what everyone has been saying. I was thinking about it all night and how opposition fans must feel when their coaches drive through and they sit there wondering what the f*ck is happening, the media told us he would get bored and leave them in the shit, this doesnt look like that.

Good post this one, its like when you've not seen young relatives for a year or so "haven't you grown" kind of remark. Would love to hear from expats who come to see City after 6 or so years away, how do they view the progress of the area.

I'm at uni outside of Manchester and come home, thankfully, quite regularly for matches but even then I can see the difference between visits.
However, I spent last year outside of Manchester since January before coming home late June and so didn't see the ground until the start of the new season and I was absolutely gobsmacked when I was riding past on the tram. I always try to go to EDS matches and I can't wait for this new stadium to be ready.

Top post from dawlishdave, steel work is really taking shape now ; does anybody know how the the third tier will be attached to the framework ? Have had a look at the CGI video and looks as if they still need to go quite a bit higher with the frameworks.

Looking at jrb's photo from the Beetham Tower you can't see the steelwork for the South Stand yet (hidden behind the white building).
The South Stand will be higher than the Colin Bell so I think you are right about the framework going higher. I'm no constructional
engineer but I think the concrete terracing will be laid on top of the front of the steel work looking at the construction video that's
been released.

Think your right just checked CGI again and looks like you can see the back off the terracing through the wire mesh on the completed shots, so the support structure steelwork for the terracing is still to be added on top of the frame work, going to be huge once it's finished !

Sheff Wed fans in the South Stand.

if you click on last image and zoom in around the middle right next to the 3rd crane on the left you can actually see the steel been which has the rows where the concrete can be placed also by Tuesday you should be able to notice the concrete perimeter coming down as only 107-110 has come down and 111 has the second gate in place so looks like in the next few weeks we might see progress on the pitch side seats aswell

Yes, noticed on Wednesday top right hand side, steel section being put in place to drop concrete terrace on. Big Meccano really !

Noticed they have bicycle parking for 1200 bikes. I went on my bike tonight to the match and there were about three other bikes on the racks next to the bar in City Sq. Not three hundred, just three. It's the same at weekend matches.

There was an email survey about how people travel to the stadium a while back and more cycling facilities was part of it, so they are obviously looking at it. I'm not keen at the moment because the racks are badly placed and don't want my bike damaged accidentally, but if they were placed in a manned compound away from foot traffic it would be tempting. Not sure how the smell of sweaty lycra and savlon will mix with the aroma of Chicken Balti pies though!

Is it practical afterwards? Very packed in close environment of the ground. Wouldn't fancy pushing a bike through a packed crowd

Not a problem. I left at full-time on Wed and pushed my bike down Joe Mercer Way in the throng of fans no probs. What's good is they hold the traffic back to let foot traffic cross Alan Turing Way. I was off up Alan Turing Way towards Monsall then into Cheetham Hill before any match traffic caught me up! I was back home in Prestwich 40 minutes after the final whistle.

I went past today and the first steel frame for the concrete steps to sit on has been put in place. Its high.

Went passed Saturday for a nosey and was surprised to see nobody on site. If we are meant to be behind schedule we should be taking every opportunity to get up to date or ahead for the winter
