And you posted a pic of some random bridge because....?

It's far from random. It's the original template for the bridge linking the academy to the stadium (one of architect Raphael Vinoly's earlier projectc in the Parrs Wood Quarter of the City).

What the F**K is the Parrs Wood Quarter of the City!!!!

Its Parrs Wood. End of. Its not a quarter. And its not in the City either.

And that bridge has been there as long as I can ever remember - so at least 30 years

swoosh!

Rumour has it that city and bam have fell out a bit. Laing orourke now in pole position to get a lot of the future work.

Well that new bridge is rubbish - you need ladders to get on and off it at each end. I think it's dangerous.

Some here in JRB's thread on SkyScraper City bottom of page 3 and someone's coloured the spans sky blue on page 4 Looks better IMHO

http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlf18/12877455704/ panoramic

It certainly looks better in the coloured format on page 4, the pic's of the area make it look very washed out

I went and had a quick look today. Certainly nothing to get excited about. A functional concrete walkway.

Is it just me or does it look a bit low?

Or a bit shit.

its not about the journey its the destination. shit hot academy linked by average bridge to shit hot stadium.

Yeah I know.

Its all the hype on here and the stuff in the planning app "iconic" etc etc.

I was expecting something spectacular. Maybe the purse strings are being tightened somewhat.

No point in an iconic bridge, nobody would come from far and wide to see the new mcfc pedestrian bridge over Turing way, however flash. They will however be drawn to the marvels either side. Money I suspect is not the issue, but still Khaldoon and co wont spend just for the hell of it.

I'd still of preferred a log flume though.

I'm more of a Bridge on the River Kwai man, myself.

A hardwood superstructure with Bamboo fittings looks so seventies / eighties. Also there is no need to carry rail traffic.

Maybe not iconic in relation to the san francisco bridge or anything but I thought they would make a decent enough one for it to be iconic in a metphorical sense ie for academy players to 'cross the bridge' and make it to the first team. But that bridge is just shit isn't it? To put it into perspective here's the one on the skyscraper thread at st helens:

Far superior to the crap thing we've got. Obviously it's just a bridge and I'm not really arsed but it would have been a little extra to add to the campus if it was half decent, which it isn't

Fair comment. Also the working conditions of the men who built it might draw some adverse publicity.

Well, its what we've got now, like it or not we're stuck with it. Perhaps the club could pay a consultant such as Gok wan or Llewlyn bowen to jazz it up a bit?

City have come a long long way, we've always been good at moaning about all things city, but moaning about a bridge shows just how far we've come.

Its a bridge, it will save time crossing a busy crossroad, that's all.

The design challenge of making the bridge interesting let alone 'iconic' in its location was one I reckon was simply a waste of energy.

The height of any bridge had to be low enough for easy of use and the only way of making it stand out is what we got in the original drawings we all saw.

That bridge would simply have looked out of place when the collar site and other developments are done with.

And here's the bridge in question

With FFP lucky it doesn't look like this instead:
