I do think losing TAA is a blow, he’s always been very good for England and his set pieces are an asset - however, we do have an over abundance in that spot so can strengthen in other areas - I’d like Ward-Prowse in the squad.

And if Ward-Prowse is in the squad, his set-pieces put TAA's to shame anyway. Also Trippier.

yes agreed. I’d liked TAA to be there. But we can definitely cope without him.

The England gravy train, never. This is a 100% true story, during the World Cup in Japan and South Korea a well known rag player, needed his feet doing and the FA at his behest got the bloke who did his feet normally to fly out to Japan, this was someone who did work for a few clubs City included. When he gets there all the medical staff meet him and ask how much he will be charging, he tells them and they go mad, they tell him to triple it so it doesn't look bad on them, they were basically all taking the piss and the FA, were either too stupid to see what was going on, or didn't care. I won't name the rag but think he lives in Miami now.

Genuinely think this will be a blessing in disguise. As I said in the match thread last night, TAA gives this England side nothing because we don't set up like Liverpool, don't have the players to cover his glaring defensive deficiencies and don't have the forwards to capitalise on his desire to cross it from anywhere over the halfway line.

4 right backs was ridiculous, he would have been switching every game, sometimes twice just to justify his decision not to make a decision and leave one out which would prevent any of them getting in a rhythm as well as limit his options from the bench elsewhere.

He's now got the correct amount and gives him an opportunity to balance the squad and bring JWP instead who would see plenty of game time given what we've got in that area.

Whilst I think both Godfrey and white are better than both Coady the Sunday league player and Mings, including one of those is pointless, southgates made his choice and neither will see any meaningful minutes ahead of them.

Lingard I don't see the point in taking, is he getting in the side anywhere ahead of foden, mount, Sancho, Grealish,Rashford or Sterling? Or offer anything they don't? Nope.

Get JWP in and we've got a much better squad.

With Henderson still injured (although scan shows no damage) and unfit, why on earth is he even in the squad?

TAA and Henderson should be replaced by JWP and Lingard.

While I’m not particularly a big fan of Lingard, he is in firm, confident and played a sumptuous first time pass to Grealish for the England goal.

He is just the kind of high energy attacking pest England need to be able to bring on with 15 mins to go and needing a goal.

Henderson being in the squad is diabolical tbh, even if he recovers from his injury he will be nowhere near match fit. England have a really poor record of taking, and relying on, half fit players to tournaments down the years.

He certainly made a meal out of a lot of those challenges the other night. To be fair there was the odd hack now and again, but nowhere near the amount our boys get week in week out, and City players are never given the benefit of the doubt by the media.
He's built a rod for his own back, his constant diving is going to see opposition players in the tournament deliberately trying to break his legs or something.
