The Portugal-Turkiye match saw the match stopped five separate times as fans invaded the pitch trying to get selfies with Ronaldo.

Given the current penalties for pitch invasion don’t seem to be an effective deterrent, what would you suggest to reduce invasions, especially at the international level?

I would say that all electronics the person possesses should be confiscated in addition to lifetime ban and fine.

To be fair players have whored themselves out to young fans for so long this was always going to happen, it's an X-factor sport now.

Authorities might want to address why so many stewards appear to be facing the pitch as opposed to the spectators, and if the stewards feel uncomfortable stopping people from running on the pitch, then what purpose do they serve?

Fox Euro coverage just showed a video posted to Twatter of the young kid who was the first to go on to get a picture with fake Ronaldo with the host and pundits saying “go on little guy, go on!”.

Apparently not featuring (glorifying) invaders is no longer a thing.

They’ll no doubt be bemoaning the number of stoppages in the next Portugal match for removal of pitch invaders, as well.

In the 50's you could have set the Dogs on them and beat them with large cucumber shaped pieces of mahogany :)

I’ve just seen a short video which appears to indicate that Ronaldo was encouraging the young fans to have the selfie taken with him.
When they are on the pitch to play football they shouldn’t be encouraging fans to pitch invade. Young or old.

If that’s right and he was stopping to let them, then he should get a red card immediately and a ban. IMHO
