Europa League Final

In the August we will be looking to carry on what we're doing.

The defence let in 10 in the last 16, that's good enough we'll keep that going, the attack scored 27 in the last 10 that's great well
Just keep that going.

A couple of new players will come in and help us improve even more, but they'll be players who already understand what Pep wants (Walker, Sanchez, Ederson) and can slot in seamlessly.

United on the other hand will be looking to rebuild for the 5th consecutive season. They're fans hopes are pinned on the idea that when Mourinho has spent another £300m that theyll have the quality of players to play attacking exciting football - the exact opposite of this season.

So yeah, they won some more trophies than us this season, but ours laid the foundation on which we'll build the next 2 or 3 seasons in which I'm completely confident we will win a lot, and United are once again trying to change direction, reinvent themselves and begin again.
I agree Komps made a huge difference but we need new fullbacks a keeper a replacement for yaya potentially and arguably another forward. So we have a rebuild ourselves.

Keeps them giddy until Bayern hand them their arse ala Barca v Celtic.

So you genuinely think finishing trophyless and qualifying for cl is better than 2 trophies 6th and champs league? Behave mate trophies are trophies and we ain't won enough of em yet to be picky.
No you behave you're saying you'd rather win a competition we weren't even in, how dumb is that? So with that out of the way that means you'd rather us fail to reach top 4, spend all season playing shit football, not even challenging for top 4 for the majority of it never mind the title... all so we can say "we won the league cup we've got a trophy".

Nah I'm not having it sorry finishing outside top4 would be a disaster, we need to rebuild and we need to offer CL football to do that properly, it's not ideal wining the title would have been better but that's the reality.

In reality all they have done is give themselves 1 less chance of winning a trophy next season.....coz if they think they have any chance in the champions league then they are more deluded than I thought.

Lucky you. That was a sublime performance.

With the likes of Sergio, Gabriel, Kevin, Leroy, David et al and with a sprinkling of new signings! I know how I feel...

It was a sublime 5 days mate with Amstel at a euro a pint and City on top form,Sterling hitting a level he's not been near before or since what was not to like.

Bringing in a pair of fullbacks isn't rebuilding. Nor is a goalkeeper.

And the defensive improvements came after the Spurs 2-2 draw, long before Kompany was back.

The front 5, CBs and Yaya in the middle are all pretty set. That's the whole attack, midfield and the core of the defence.

We are tweaking things and improving them, we're not rebuilding.

Europa League, League Cup, Charity Shield, just a shame they weren't allowed to enter the Checkatrade Trophy to complete the set

But...

If they finish third in their group, they will drop down into the Thursday Night Cup and have a chance to make it two in a row!

Mrs Vienna has just shown me two videos she has seen on Facebook; the first is of the rags' players singing, "Why don't City fuck off home?", and the second is the sheep in Stockholm, singing, "City's going to die!"

But they're not obsessed and obviously a very classy group, considering the events of Monday evening.

Wankers the lot of them!

Any way you cut it they've had a better season and it pisses me right off. However shit they were in reality we weren't much better beat only Arsenal at home and Utd away and lost or drew every other big game. Threw away a 2-0 head start against Monaco. I'll tell you what I'd happily have seen us play like Utd did at the etihad that night as we would have progressed to the next round. A lot of business to do and a big improvement needed in them big games.
They won a cup we were not shite enough to play in - big deal. Agree we need to perform against top competition and Pep I hope brings in the right reinforcements to play his style or he adapts his style to win in PL.

This quote from the Ajax manager is quite reminiscent of what Pep said a few weeks/ months back.

Pep said he realised that in the Premier League it is pointless pressing teams that don't want to play as they just hoof it up the pitch and fight for the second balls.

It doesn't matter what you call it we could potentially replace our GK, 4 fullbacks(probably 3), bring in a CB, a DM, a new Forward... all relatively big money signings.

The current squad(parts of it) wasn't good enough to play Peps way to the level required, we aren't changing direction though as you say, we have had a clear plan since he came in(before it even) we're basically doing it over a longer period. It is a shame that most of Pellers' signings were so unsuccessful I still can't get over the rumour we could have signed Dybala but he insisted on Bony, then we have Jesus, Negredo, Mangala, Jovetich... part of me wonders why he didn't try and sign more defenders(side backs) part of me is glad he didn't. We did sign Sterling and De Bruyne under him but people said they were both Pep's choice, Dinho was his best signing if that's the case.

I would be fully supporting their plan - trying to get into Europa next year.

Agreed to a certain extent as I will be surprised if Yaya plays more than 25 games next season.

He will be fazed out the team as the season goes on next season I reckon.

It's all well and good they they've added to their cabinet or made CL or whatever -- congratulations to them for winning a trophy in a tournament we weren't poor enough to be in. If they want to crow about who's had a better year, fine. Is there anyone who would trade their side for ours man for man? I wouldn't. I s there anyone who believes they can restock so dramatically while City fails to that they could have a better squad than we do at summer's end? Barring a raft of injuries, I don't. Let them have their fun; let them big themselves up. I suspect they will find next season just a s great a challenge as this one has been.

I envy you. I've retired recently, well nearly, I keep getting sucked back into stuff, which is not bad as it's extra money, but in truth I'd rather be time rich. But I'm not complaining, there are many who'd love the choice, except I'd really like to follow the Blues more rather than less.
